Do the numbers 666 translate to WWW when translated from Hebrew?

Not really a question, I know. Anyway, I asked him for some evidence for that. He told me to find a Hebrew to English dictation. Can anyone else provide backup for that statement?

Also, I wonder about his assertion that 666 in Hebrew means WWW when the new testament was written in Greek.

Thanks all. (Yeah, even the scoffers). I think the vav explanation makes the most sense and that there is no correlation between 666 and www. Although there is still some mystery there which has yet to be revealed.

I'm sure that the Internet will be one of Satan's tools of choice for spreading his lies though.

I"m not a biblical scholar, but from what I remember... There are a few problems with the statement, but the answer is "no" regardless. The W sound is closest to the letter "vav", which corresponds to the number 6. The problem though is that you can't convert a number to a word, but only a word to a number. So vav-vav-vav is 6+6+6 = 18, which ironically in thise case is a number associated with life and good luck, since the word "chai" - life - has two letters, chet and yud that add to 18. Because of this, many Jews give to charity in multiples of 18. There is also a letter "shin" which looks a bit like a W, but it's numerical value is 400, and so WWW should be 1200, which doesn't work out to 666 at all. Check out the source website and scroll down to numerical values where you can see a table. The internet is okay, as long as people know what they're saying. I believe it applies in my case, but not in that of the dude you quoted.

The sixth letter of the hebrew alphabet, vav, can stand for a V, a W, or a couple of vowels.

So the claim is ridiculous, like saying in english since W is the 23rd letter, WWW = 23 23 23 which is almost 2*3 2*3 2*3 which is 6 6 6.

English "w" corresponds to Hebrew WAW, or VAV, pronounced vav, which has a numerical equivalent value of 6. HOWEVER, the Greek actually reads the number of the beast is six hundred, sixty and six; so the actual numerical value of WWW would be 6+6+6=18.

the VAV which is the vaguely closest thing and what most are referring to, is the 6th letter, and thus converts to a value of 6.

but also remember that the hebrew word for "life" converts to a value of 18, and 6+6+6 = 18.
