my girl and i are making cakes to donate today.

COCOA CAKE
Makes 1 (2 layer) cake
Prep time: 10 min.
Bake time: 25 min.
Oven temp: 350°

1 c minus 2 Tbsp sugar
1 egg
1/2 c butter or margerine
1/2 c milk, mixed with 1 tsp vinegar
1/2 c hot water
1/2 c unsweetened cocoa pownder
1 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp flour
Pinch salt
1 tsp vanilla

Pudding Icing:
1 c minus 2 Tbsp sugar
3 Tbsp cornstarch
2 oz. bitter chocolate
1 c boiling water
2 Tbsp butter or margerine
1 tsp vanilla

Combine all of the cake ingredients into a bowl. Beat in mixer at medium speed for 1 1/2 minutes. Pour into 2 (8 Inch) greased cake pans and bake at 350° for 25 min. Let cool in pans for 5 minutes then turn out onto cooling racks to cool completely.

Make icing while cake is cooling: In saucepan, combine sugar, cornstarch, chocolate, and boiling water. Cook, stirring until mixture thickens. Stir in butter and vanilla. Cool icing slightly before frosting cake.

2 sticks imperial marg.
cup h2o melt marg in water till soft but make sure it is not hot
2 cups sugar
2cups flour
1 tsp, each baking powder, baking soda
1/2 cup cocoa
blend with fork
beat 2 eggs
1 cup butter milk
1 tsp. vanilla
bake 350 till done
Frosting
1 stick oleo
1/2 cup cocoa
1/4 cup to 1/2 cup milk only enough to make moist
1 tsp. vanillia
4 cups powdered sugar, 1 cup crushed walnuts blended well
cook on low heat stir often. I cook till cake is done. let cake sit for 10 min then pour frosting over cake.
It is sounds like alot but very easy to make. It is the best cake I ever made. If poured into 2 separate pans it can be used as brownies as well. I hope you try it.

55 min 15 min prep Change to: Cake US Metric 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour 2 cups packed light brown sugar 1 cup peanut butter 1/2 cup vegetable shortening 1 cup milk 3 large eggs 1 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon chocolate or vanilla extract 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips Position a rack in the center of the oven and preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease a 13x9 inch pan. In a large bowl, using an electric mixer on medium speed, beat the flour, brown sugar, peanut butter, and shortening until crumbly. Measure 1 cup for topping and reserve. Add the milk, eggs, baking powder, baking soda and chocolate or vanilla extract to the remaining flour mixture and beat on medium speed until combined. Pour into prepared pan and sprinkle the reserved mixture over the top. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a cake tester inserted into the center comes out clean. Immediately sprinkle the hot cake with the chocolate chips and let stand 30 seconds to melt. Spread the chocolate chips evenly across the top. Cool in the pan on a wire rack. Cut into squares.
