Islam is faith in God. Mohammed (peace be upon him) is his messenger. To the faithful Muslim all faith and praise should be to God.

Mohammed (PBUH) is to be respected and honored for his special task and position as delivering God's message. Muslims do not worship Mohammed (PBUH) nor do they pray to him.

It would be like you are lost in a cave and wish to return to the surface and someone was sent to show you the way out. The person who rescues you would be worthy of respect, but would you pray to him as God? Of course not.

Muslims have a saying, "All praise be to Allah!"

However, if you were to ignore the messenger, and disrespect him, how would you ever get the message?

In the call to prayer it is stated, "There is no God but God and Mohammed is his messenger."

I am not aware of Muslims praying to Mohammed (PBUH) as Christians praying to saints for intervention but I will look this up. So if I do find more information I will add it to my answer here.

I hope this answers your question adequately.

Peace be upon you and may God shine light on your path.

I'd have to say God. If we really believed in God we'd believe in His final testament (the Quran) which instructs us to believe in Muhamad pbuh. Also, before Muhamad Islam still existed. Jews and Christians were the "Muslims" of that time becuase they were submitting to God's will. To be Muslim means to submit. At one time, there was an uncorrupted Torah and Bible. Unfortunately, people played around with them to fit their needs. I.e. at the council of Nicea they argued over the trinity and finally that doctrine was added to the religion. Total blasphemy; they shoulda kept God's original truth and Bible. Now, with all the lies mixed in the Bible and Torah I can't safely say I believe in it or disbelieve in it :) But I have full faith in the Quran, which has been protected for centuries. I know I may sound pompous but that is what I truly believe. Peace :)

Well Islam is the main religion every prophet has called for ( (including Christianity, Judaism and Islam as well as the ones before)), which is mainly the believe in One GOD and the one to be worshiped alone who has no Wife or Son.

So, this is the main issue of Islam.

Prophets PB U them and Mohammad PB UH being the Last one called for the Oneness of ALLAH and the one to be worshiped.

This is the main issue in all religions.

Islam means 'peace'. The word Muslim means 'submission'(one who submits him/herself to the one true God). There are those who have taken their respect and passion for Mohammed(pbuh) out of the realm of the REAL meaning of a Muslim. I believe that they, like others who take other gods than God Almighty(sws), will be judged heavily for it in the Hereafter.

Look, I dont know a hell of a lot about Islam, but what I do know is this: In their beloved Qu'ran, it says that Jesus Christ is not God, He is only a prophet. And woe to those who believe otherwise. And as for Mohammed... well, he was only ever a man to begin with, and only lived like two thousand years ago, if that. You know what? God says not to worship anyone or anything other than Him, and Muslims BOW DOWN to Mohammed. Does that make them idolaters? I think so.

In Islam, faith is in God AND His Messenger, Muhammad (PBUH).

God IS worshiped.
Muhammad, a human being and a creation of God, is NOT worshiped..

Simply:
Islam is faith.

Muhmmed is the messanger from the God who carried the faith to the people.

I understand your question.

What is Islam? Islam is the submission to Allah and accepting Muhammad's message.

We have faith that the message that Muhammad carried is from God. We have faith that God appointed Muhammad as his messenger. We have faith that Allah is the One that gave the revelations to Muhammad.

Another thing. In Islam, there are six "Pillars of Faith". Among them are two which is:

-Belief or faith in God
-Belief or faith in His Messengers

and since Muhammad is one of his messengers, Muslims must have faith in BOTH God and His Messengers, one of which is Muhammad.

What is Islam?
ISLAM

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The first thing that one should know and clearly understand about Islam is what the word Islam itself means. The religion of Islam is not named after a person, or a place, a tribe, a mountain or a river. Nor is the name just another –ism among the many that exist in the world today. The Arabic word Islam means the submission or surrender of one's will to the only true god worthy of worship, Allah (God in Arabic). A Muslim is the one who submits or surrenders his will to Allah. Hence, it was not a new religion brought by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in Arabia in the seventh century, but only the true religion of God re-expressed in its final form.

1) Belief in God – Islam lays a very important stress on Belief in One and Only incomparable God. In Islam monotheism in not restricted only to words. Islam is a pure monotheistic religion. As Encyclopedia Britannica puts it “No religion has interpreted monotheism in a more consequential and literal way than Islam”. God has no son, partners, human forms and none has the right to be worshipped but Him alone.

2) Belief in Angels – Muslims believe in Angels. The angels worship God alone, obey Him, and act only on his commands. Among the angels are Gabriel and Michael.

3) Belief in His revealed Books – God has revealed books to his messengers as proof and guidance to mankind. Some of the Books revealed are Taurat, Zaboor(PSALMS), Injeel(Gospel) and The Quran. The Quran is the last and final revelation of God revealed to Prophet Muhammed (pbuh).

4) Belief in His Messengers – Muslims believe in prophets and messengers of God. Muslims believe in Prophets like Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses and Jesus (peace and blessings be upon them all). The last and final messenger was prophet Muhammed (pbuh) who came as an reconfirmation of the eternal message. Prophets were human beings with no divine qualities, nor do Muslims worship Prophets.

5) Belief in the Day of Judgment – Belief in the day of Judgment where all the people will be resurrected for God’s judgment according their beliefs and deeds in this world.

6) Belief in Al-Qadar – Belief in Divine Pre Destination, i.e. God knows everything, He knows what will happen and what happened. Whatever God wills to happen will come to pass and whatever he does not will to happen will not come to pass.
