The first thing is that people have to be educated about how serious the problem actually is. The effects will happen within our lifetime and they will not be pretty and they will be many.

I understand that it is hard to face the facts when they are this dire. But if each of us simply read up on the subject it would make a difference.

The only solution is to 1. stop using combustion as a way to create energy.

2. figure out a way to remove trillions of tons of greenhouse gasses from the air--and FAST.

I think that this whole "Global Warming" business is bunk. The first sign of this is that Al Gore , ("Inventor of the Internet") is claiming to be leading the movement now.

2nd, I do not believe that man has been tracking global weather patterns long enough, ( only about 130 years), to say with any certainty, that there is any short term, much less any long term trends at work here.

For all we know, we could be experiencing the end of a mini-ice age, and are returning to "Normal" temperatures, - (look at the sea shells you find every where in the mountains and deserts, and the rich silt deposits all accross the midwest), - but again - to even suggest someting like that is speculation and nothing more. 15 - 20 years ago, - we were supposed to be headed for a new ice age, as we were in the mid 60's, and the late 50's, the mid 40's, and the mid 30's. Have we forgotten the Midwest Dust Bowl years of '36 - '39? Those years approached what would be the closest thing to a "nuclear winter" as any American would ever experience before of since.

To accuse the Industrial age man of causing the damage to the Ozone and hastening of the premature expiration of Mother Earth is to give man's ability to wreak environmental havock on the planet on such a grand sacle is vastly overrated - at least so far..
(A global Nuclear Conflaguration could certainly change that).

However, the earth it's self is it's own worst enemy, and it's own doctor, and is self healing. Lets compare some statistics:

The eruption of Mexco's Mount Pentitubo did more damage to the Ozone layer that all of the pollution caused by man since the Industrial revolution.

It was predicted that the eruption of Mount St. Helens did more Damage to the Atmosphere and the Ozone Layer than mankind can pollute the air until the year 2200.

Some experts forecast that the wild fires of the 2005 & 2006 fire season in California alone have produced so much ash in the upper atmosphere that the average tempature around the globe have been, and will be for the next year, 2 - 3 degrees F cooler than normal.

Bottom line? I think that we do not have anywhere near enough data to intelligently make an informed opinion about the weatherthis year, - maybe next year. Thanks.

I'm pulling for you,

From 1931 to 1939 the temperature was hotter than it is now. Sone of the highest temperatures ever recorded was in 1936. It got so hot and dry that the Midwest dried up and blew away. The eastern states was covered in a dust cloud. Al Gore hadn’t invented global warming so they called it the “ GREAT DUST BOWL. “ Have anyone seen the Midwest coming by your door?

Don't fall for all the global warming doom and gloom stories. Man has been predicting environmental doom for decades. Remember Erlich's Population Bomb. The world was supposed to be plunged into worldwide famine back in the 80's. Billions were supposed to die off because the planet could not sustain us. Did it happen? Al Gore claims to be an expert but never presents factual scientific evidence to support his claims. This

No less than 4 times in the past century has the media sounded the alarm about climate change. First it was global cooling, then global warming, then cooling again, now warming again. Do you sense a pattern here? We go through cooling and warming cycles, and the media jumps on it and tries to scare the hell out of us. The global temperature has been cooling since 1998. In about 10-15 more years, the alarmist media will notice that we are going through another cooling cycle, and sound the alarm again about global cooling.

Also realize that some 'greenies' want to limit the use of fuels to inhibit 'green house gases' - this means that coal and petroleum will not be allowed. Yet they don't propose any alternatives. Nearly all the electrical energy produced in this country is generated by coal and fossil fuels.

The current plans of the extreme environmentalist will destroy the economy and liveable conditions in this country. Yet, there is no attempt to make China and India reduce carbon emissions, just the current industrialized nations, especially the USA. China and India are two of the greatest polluters.
Is the climate changing, yes, do we know why? Probably not, because ever time a true scientist presents research that the greenies disagree with or it doesn't fit their agenda, attempts are made to discredit the scientist and his research.

As a geologist and an environmental consultant, I have seen a fair amount of data regarding global warming. The conclusion that I have come to is that we not only do not have enough data, but the environment is too complex for us to make a definite assessment at this time. As a result, I think it is still up in the air as to whether or not it is actually happening. Much of the hype about global warming is the result of alarmists.

That being said, I do support many of the conservation efforts that these people want to put in place. There are others that I think are misguided and unrealistic.

what is happening today with global warming is nothing new,
If you look at the geological evidence it has happened more than once in fact it probley has happened more than a dozen times all ready.

governments are to quick to blame us consumers for this natural cycle.

we no nothing yet to how the world and all the planets including the sun work together over millions and billions of years it is a unknown quantity.

maybe we have accelerated the present global warming issue slightly but at the moment the earth is releasing more methane gases than it was a 100 years ago which is a big contribution to the problem but there is nothing we can do about that.

I think that governments all over the world could do a lot more to help in finding greener alternatives for our needs we have to break the giants like the oil companies who so dominate the world markets.

I think Global Warming is very real. Although I lack the expertise to analyse any meteorlogical data, I can say with confidence that we are witnessing some of the great changes in the global climate.
Here in India, everything depends on monsoons. In the past decades, there has been some deviation in the monsoon patterns, either it rains too much or too less.
Global warming is something that affects not just you and me but every being on earth.
Who is responsible... I don't think its right to blame any one country for everone who supports or relies upon industrial products are responsible for this. India is among the countries emitting higher levels of pollutants into the environment. I don't see any change in the attitude of the governement here in the near future.
In the world, this issue had taken an ugly political twist. Its hightime, we stop pointing fingers but acknowledge the problem and take some serious steps to prevent calamities.

Globale warming is not bad if we irrigate the dry lands.

For now all scientists are wrong and say that the climat change come from C02 .
The human activities make droughts by overpimping of deepwater in underground.
In the same time deforestation , drainage , waterprof surfaces diminuish the infiltrations to recharge the reserves of water.
The consequences are the climat change without global warming, but the scientists think that all the climat change come from the global warming.

Me, I DEFINITELY think that our lifestyle is indeed affecting the environment. I think that global warming is a terrible issue plaguing our planet. Here are some means which I try to practice to reduce global warming. I encourage my parents to let me walk to school instead of they driving me. I am person that studies Environmental Science therefore I try my best to implore to people means of keeping a healthy environment. All I do is try best to ensure we have a clean environment by telling them about the effects of global warming. Right now its critical that we educate others about global warming. In addition, the pizza place where I work part time uses there waste carbon dioxide emitted to heat there hot water needed for various reasons. I was the one who encouraged this after seeing this on television. People should try to encourage this practice as the carbon dioxide emitted in atmosphere cause global warming. In addition, we use motorcycles powered by electricity when delivering pizza. All we can do is educate people on the topic as much possible. These include ways such as through the media ( radio, t.v. , newspaper), going into our schools and workplaces, using billboards, flyers, advertising on food articles such as boxes etc. Just as much as possible to tell about this problem and in doing so we evaluate the effects of gobal warming and ultimately means of mitigating the issue.

I think people need to think more about nature because if it wasn't for nature we wouldn't even be here. I think everybody on this planet should actually help the planet they live on. If it wasn't for the trees that give us oxygen then we would die in an instant. I also think that everyone in the world should plant a tree once a week anywhere and i think this could stop global warming.

Yes I believe there is global warming, all you have to do is look at the weather patterns of today as opposed to previous times.BUT,this is not all down to the way we have treated/miss treated the earths atmosphere.Yes we have speed-ed up the process tremendously, getting rid of the rain forests has had a tremendous effect on global warming. All the things that have effected it is all for mans gain, and at any expense. When you look back in history,it is a natural cycle of the earth. It has happened before and will happen again.
