Has enough been done to preserve the Hindu flavor of indian society? Have other religious groups become too powerful and allowed to dwarf Hinduism? Are there efforts underway to preserve Hinduism?

Hinduism has survived the wraths of the eras and the blows of time. It shall survive...that is the beauty of Hinduism!

Hindus do not feel like persecuted minority in India.Hindus constitute 85 % of the total population-related Hindu religions (Sikhs/Jains/Buddists) and Parsis/Jews/Bahais/Ahemadias etc constitute about 2 %--Muslims about 11%-Christians (all factions) about 2%.The Indian Secular Democracy -the largest in the World-is the Genorisity,Broad outlook and Foresightedness of the Hindu majority.India remains Largest World Demacracy for the past 60 years Continuously without any break(about 12 free and fair General Elections (closely observed by the world free-Press) whereas the the sorrounding countries(which were part of the British india)remained/remains under the rule of a DICTATOR for 50 to 90 % of 60 years of their freedom(?!!!)

Hinduism, survives to end. You need not worry about Hinduism.
Hinduism is bold and beautiful with the ever emerging saints like swamy vivekananda.

i'm not hindu and have not been to india but i know there is a lot of violence between hindus and muslims in india. so my guess would be that the answer to your question is yes.
