Yes, my grandfather died in Sept of this year. Before he died he told me he would always watch my son and he would always be with him. He took my son's picture and held it close to his heart. He told me he would be safe there. I'll never forget that moment...it was very dramatic.

Tommy Cooper was a very special Comedian and joke Magician. His catch phrase was 'Like that - not like that'. Loved by all. One night he appeared live on a Jimmy Tarbuck Special on TV and in the middle of his act, he began to slump to the floor. Everyone thought it was poor old Tommy with part of the act. It wasn't though, he was having a heart attack and in fact died there and then in front of about three million viewers. He was a lovely man and very funny. I believe that when he had to go, that was how he would have wanted it..................

Saw a guy hit by a car. Guest with a drug overdose, and one with a suicide and one jumper from where I worked...not pretty. Especially the jumper she was my neighbours daughter unbeknown to me. Knowing hours before her parents did that she died. Her dad for the longest time would walk up and down the street in front of my house. very sad. Something I would not wish on anyone.

I have! I worked in an ICU at a hospital for a few years. This 18 year old woman came in, badly beaten by her husband. Concussion, fractured spleen, broken ribs, swelling of the brain...Man...She was a trooper, I tell ya. She lasted like 3 days I think, then one day *POOF* she was gone just like that.

Oh well, I guess she shouldn't have argued with the guy.

Yes, I was at my father-in-law's side when my mother-in-law decided to take him off his respiratory machine. He hung on for ten minutes, and it was very emotionally draining for everyone there. Then, when we got back to the house, my brother called me to tell me that my father had died in another hospital. Definitely a day I will never forget.

If you had seen someone die you would not ask such a stupid question....hope you never do. Many people here have probably witnessed loved ones die...don't trivialise it with your morbid curiosity.

I would not dignify your insensitive question with an answer.

Yes.
For me it was my father. As he lay there on his hospital death-bed. Unable to speak, unable to move, his eyes unflinching looking into mine.
I knew it was time for him to pass, his body ravaged from disease and unable to perform critical functions.
As he hung on to his last threads of life I felt a deep sense of compassion. One that enabled me to help him pass. I told him that it was o.k. to die.
To let go.
It would be alright.
We were not close and my brother and mother were simply unable to cope with this situation.
As he gasped his last sips of air he looked on me.
He was then just ... was not alive.
