I think you mean Lexus ES 300, right? Anyway, I would take the Avalon, purley because the Camry was designed after the ES, so the Avalon is a little nicer. But, you don't get the good Lexus name with the Avalon.

When you say Lexus "e300", are you implying a used one? Because it is no longer the ES300, it is the ES350. If you're comparing a new Toyota Avalon XLS with a new Lexus ES350, I think it would come down to where your priorities are.
A key difference is the size: the Avalon is a larger vehicle, and from the outside it is more than 6 inches longer, more than 1 inch wider, and almost 1 1/2 inches taller, translating for the most part into more interior space. Interestingly, the weight difference is only 20 lbs, possibly due to more sound deadening materials (which have to be dense and therefore heavy) in the ES.
The other key difference, as other posts have brought out, is the luxury advantage enjoyed by the ES. This is not just the subjective value of image. On both the equipment and service level, you are just getting it better with Lexus:
- although the same 3.5 liter engine, the ES has octane optimization resulting in more horsepower than the Avalon
- the ES has a 6 speed automatic transmission versus the Avalon's 5-speed
- standard electronic stability and traction control with ES, Avalon optional
- better electronics: higher quality gauges/bulbs, sound system, and headlights (projector versus non-projector)
- 48 month basic/72 month powertrain warranty versus Avalon's 36 month basic/60 month powertrain
- you get Lexus service versus Toyota service. Lexus service advisors get more training than their Toyota counterparts and their facilities are noticeably more comfortable
There are other factors to consider, including options that may or may not be important to you, pricing, style, personal comfort, and quality of workmanship.

Depends on the features you're looking for. Personally, I'd go for the Lexus ES 350. Since you said you were looking to buy a new car, I'm assuming you meant the ES 350, which is all-new for 2007. It now has the same powerful 3.5L engine as the Avalon. For about the same price, you can get both cars fully loaded with amenities, but the Lexus will retain it's resale value longer than the Avalon.

According to the factory prices you should end up paying about $4000 more for the Lexus than the Toyota. However, the Lexus does have more class to it than the Toyota. But if you're looking for value than put some options in the Toyota which will make it Lexus-like without the price or insurance rates.

Do you mean the new ES350?
Personally I like the ES350 much better. It looks better inside and out. But why don't you look at the new Camry? The V6 is the same as the Avalon and since it's smaller and lighter it will be faster than the Avalon too. Plus its about 5k less than an Avalon. The ES and Camry actually are twins. They share the same chassis and engine. The differences are cosmetic and in the amount of features. I like the ES a lot, but I'm having a hard time justifying a 5k premium over a fully loaded Camry XLE V6.

Both a waste of money, way expensive to fix. the poster that said lexus is executive is just why people buy them, to be someone there not. Do me this favor. You don't have to buy it, but test drive the Chrysler 300. Any model, the 300c is the hemi, but the touring is nice too. I drove it, and for less money than both toyota/lexus, and a better overall car in my opinion. Take a test drive.
No, I don't work for Chrysler

They are both the same car manufacture. Lexus is just Toyota's luxury division. Look at your budget and choose accordingly.
