Yes it will, because it contains caffeine. As for your panic attack, it probably had more to do with alcohol withdrawal than anything. Hangovers are hard on the nerves, and many people who are subject to panic attacks, find that they are more likely to have them during a hangover or the day after a night of drinking.
I'd disregard the statements giving dire warnings though - Red Bull only has about 80mg of caffeine per can. A cup of regular coffee has between 100-150mg of caffeine - significantly more than Red Bull. Of course, you can still consume too much caffeine drinking either. Rule of thumb is about 500mg of caffeine max per day - any more is usually considered unhealthy.
On the subject of taurine - it is an amino acid that is found naturally in most animals, including people. It plays an important role in brain and muscle function, amongst other things. It is not in itself a stimulant however, and has not been clinically proven to have any synergistic effect when combined with caffeine.
The fact that many energy drinks seem to have a strong stimulant effect is likely due to them being consumed more rapidly, (people often chug a red bull down in one go) as opposed to slowly sipping a cup of coffee.

Red Bull is an energy drink that contains caffeine. Caffeine can give you energy, but it's easy to get too much and some people are very sensitive to the affects. Caffeine can definitely make your hear beat faster. Also, believe it or not, some people get a fast heartrate after drinking alcohol, when it begins to wear off. Sounds like you could have gotten a double-whammy.

The caffeine will cause you to be more alert and your heart to race (to a degree) and the alcohol is actually a sedative so it slows it down but its also a dis inhibitor (removes inhibitions) so taking two sets of drugs that do opposite things might allow you to drink a lot more than you usually would without falling over. When your body metabolises all of that overnight perhaps it now not too surprising you feel a bit messed up and have a panic attack. I wouldn't worry too much though it will have all cleared you system in 24 hrs

Red Bull is considered an upper...Basically they speed up the body’s central nervous system. They mimic the hormone adrenaline, one of the body’s natural stimulants. Immediate effects can be: In small doses, upper increase mental alertness and physical energy. Breathing and heart rate speed up, pupils dilate, appetite decreases and the mouth dries up. Depression and fatigue usually follow. Irregular sleep patterns are also common. Higher doses may cause tremors, sweating, anxiety, headache, palpitations and severe chest pain. In extremely high doses, hallucinations, delirium, seizures, coma and even death may occur. Coming down leaves one depressed, anxious, jittery and nervous.
That is why jager bombs or the like are hard on your system because the liquor is such a downer and the red bull is an upper...it messes with your system.

Yes the caffeine would cause your heart to speed up. The ammount of Red Bull you drank probably overloaded your system, hence the panic attack. Were you stressed out for any other reason?

Yeah, caffine is a stimulant so yes, it will make your heart beat quicker. I had a relative who ended up in hospital with heart palpitations after drinking a can of it. She was in her 60s but Dr says it was the red bull that caused it.

i imagine you had some "liquid viagras"? yes Red Bull in itself will cause your heart to beat faster, basically any caffeinated drink will, but Red Bull also contains a stimulant called Taurine: A colorless crystalline substance, C2H7NO3S, formed by the hydrolysis of taurocholic acid and found in the fluids of the muscles and lungs of many animals, particularly the Bull. (bull testosterone) Taurine itself also contains a significant amount of caffeine.
