I closed my checking acct with a zero bal. at the end of the month & this month receive a bank statement showing (- $37.50) in my account. I was surprised because I had to go to a special employee who closes accts. Today I find out after but after speaking with the 3rd tier supervisor, my account was never closed due to a coding error & there was a $10.00 automatic payment made on my behalf (in which the bank said I should be grateful to them for making it) However since it was their mistake they will happily refund all the charges except for the $10.00. I told them without any money in my acct and the acct closed they shouldn't have paid the creditor and it was their mistake & that they should reverse all the charges. She told me that I should have called my creditor & tell them to stop billing them. If I do not pay the $10 in 160 days they will send me to their collections dept. My credit is great! can they mess up my credit with this. It is not the money it is principal

Did you call into customer service and ask for a manager? You get different people every time you call so keep calling until you get someone to help you and go into different branches until someone resolves the issue. I went through a similar situation and I just kept talking to different people until I got answers.

Please.

What good is being right, if you have to be alone to celebrate the victory?

What good is being right, if you have to send off goo-gobs of dispute letters to the credit bureaus to dispute a $10.00 charge?

There's nothing wrong with being a principled person, but don't let your principles and PRIDE get in the way of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

If you had to put a price on your happiness and being drama-free, I would gander that it is well-worth $10.00.

In life, you must choose your battles very carefully, and this battle is not even worth waging.

I would gladly pay $10.00 today to avoid foolishness tomorrow!

Merry Christmas

They can rightfully report you to chex systems....pay the $10/bucks.....it was your responsibility to cancel all autopays well before you closed your acct.....you need to do that in writing and I promise you that autopay will create huge problems, you need to demand that they cease the auto deduction in writing and get confirmation from the creditor that they have.

I know it's not the money problem, but save yourself some time and energy. Just pay the 10 bucks, in the end, you'll glad you did! If they send it to collection angency, yes, they can screw up your credit badly!!!
