You chose dressage,and as a 3 day eventer I can truly say its a sport..and more!

There are people that toss a b ball twice a week or bike half a mile and declare it a sport..

i think horse racing,show jumping,dressage etc are definately sports,you are competing against other people and horses to win a competition,but just riding your horse around on weekends i would call a recreation not a sport.

Of course!! I do dressage and jumping. I think other people just think that horseback riding means sitting on a horse and letting them do all the work, bu really it's a lot more. You have to do it yourself to really understand that feeling.

I think it is a sport, becuase it is mush more that just sitting on a horse. There is a lot of work involved. Lots of muscle is need too. It is a very hard sport!

Yes, I do. I takes a lot of energy to participate, and it is even in the Olympics! I ride and it takes a lot of skill and even the professionals such as Pippa Funnel or Zara Phillips have lots more that they can learn.
It could be classified as a hobbie I suppose but it gets you fit and takes time to learn and earns you a skill.

that is entirely up to the person you ask equine lovers will tell you its either a sport or a hobby. my opinion is that it is a sport and a life time commitment. i have horses so this comes from 33 yrs of experience.
