And I woke up early this morning about 4am and I started shivering and shaking uncontrollably. It went on for about half an hour but it eventually stopped. Is this any cause for concern? I took some Motrin and the fever seems to be going away.

Yeah I know it was the chills, but I've never shivered and shook uncontrollably for half an hour straight without stopping. My question is is that normal?

Usually when you have a fever, there is something going on. The Motrin would be an anti-inflammatory and take care of the fever for a while. I would suspect you have an infection somewhere, perhaps sinus? If you have any green/yellow sputum please call a doc and find out exactly what is wrong. Godloveya.

The shivering is called the chills and it comes when you have a fever. If you have had a fever for longer than three days or it is over 103F you need to seek medical attention immediately. Seeing that it is Christmas Eve you probably will have to go to the Emergency Room.
