There are often schemes to get people through their HGV if unemployed.
The local enterprise company put up 90% when my brother did his. As someone said ask at your local job centre and they may be able to help.
Good luck!

Hello,
Sorry! to tell you that the only legal way you would ever be able to drive an HGV 1 or HGV 2 is if you go and take part in an HGV training course and then you would have to pass your HGV test.
There are No! short cuts to this!!
Why? because no reputable transport company is going to let anyone who hasnt passed an HGV test, drive their HGV vehicle.
The average HGV vehicle can cost anything upto £250,000 and only the most skilled drivers will be able to drive them.
**A transport firm would definately require you to show them written evidence of having passed an HGV test, & that you hold a valid HGV license. Before they would let you any where need an HGV vehicle.
**DONT even think about it without the relevant experience or documents. It would be sheer madness! Driving & manuvering an HGV is an incredibly skillful job.
**Finally, HGV driving can be quite boring at times, yet its also very hard work. You would often be expected to work dreafully anti social hours. such as 5am starts not finishing until 3pm later in the same day, & if you have done long distances you will suffer road lagg or motorway lagg (same as jet lag). Its also a very responsible job as you might be held responsible for the trucks contents whatever they are.

Go to your local job centre and tell them that this is what you want to do
then ask if they can send you on a course with this in mind. It has been known for them to pay the full cost.
