Wear your kids out by some activites, stay away from much sugar cause it will work against you. Let them eat until they get full give them a long warm bath and watch nature take it's course somewhere between 2 and 4a.m. (sorry) should be your best bet. Enjoy! These are wonderful precious memories. And If they do wake up after all that, tell them that Santa won't come until they go to sleep, that he'll just skip over the house and have to go on to th next city. They at least will have to stay in their beds. Now I will have to go and ask God to forgive me for lying and helping you lie to your kids. Have a Merry Christmas in the mean time...seriously. ;)

How old are your kids? What do they know about Santa? (Before our girls started public school, I told them about the real Saint Nicholas - without telling them Santa wasn't real - just in case any other child told them there was no such thing as Santa Clause. It kind of broke the ice / lessened the blow when they realized Santa was us....but also inspired them to do things for people less fortunate than theirselves. I suppose you could say Santa left the gifts in the middle of the room & you tripped over them, so you decided to put them under the tree. Otherwise, I would just try to be as quiet as possible.

they wont as you are putting them to bed have mommy put gifts closer for now some where out of sight to the tree ,set your alarm ,shut the door to the kids room (s), or if you like turn on some music to put the kids to sleep put the music on repeat ,and repeat it all night turn it up as you do your thing
IF they do wake up run to them and tell them you are glad they are ok you heard someone in the living room and that you thought they were stolen, gone whatever and quickly usher them to their room and tell them you heard santa will be late and he might not make it til after breakfast something its an idea. good luck

umm, I'm putting the child gate up in the hallway to keep them from coming into the living room until I'm ready for them. But they are 5 and 2 so they are used to child gates.
If all else fails, I really like the first answer

just tell them that santa already came and asked you to put them under the tree, because he had other houses to get too.

tell them Santa just left and you're helping him out by putting away or wrapping the presents he's on a tight schedule you know, it worked for me when my 7 year old cousin found all his presents (unwrapped) at my house this time. Be creative they will believe you....Happy Holidays!!!!!
