a plance cannot take off at 600 mph ,too fast , it builds its speed up as it goes up in altitude

A 747 usually takes off at a speed of 180 to 200 miles an hour.
so, you are in the right ........brother is wrong ))

it depends on the type of airplane and the speed of the wind. most take from about 120-200. your brother is way off. if it went that fast the plane would stall after (if it could) take off and crash

I believe most commercia jet airliners are in the 200-225 range. These planes generally fly in the 400-500 mph range in flight, your brother is on dope.

It's slightly less than your guess as it's a round 180mph. It will vary due to plane type, weather and load conditions. Jumbo 747's need to hit about 180mph in good conditions.
