Your avatar is cute, and how did you manage such an individual look? Anyway, I think you should call (or have mom call) the orthodontist, even if it is the holiday, because you need to be able to eat and it could make things worse to wait. They are used to having to come in on Sundays--part of the medical world. It might not be your own doctor but someone on call for the weekend. Or they may tell you it's ok to wait, but at least then you would know.

You'll need to put wax on the end. Ortho's give them out in case something happens like that, that way if something like this happens you can aid it until you have an appointment. I had something like this only it was the cement that came out on a tooth I had recently had done. Just put some wax on the end and DON'T eat on that side and avoid eating too much. Since its the holidays, call early on december 26th and tell them what happened, and they'll be able to take you in that day.

What my orthodontist told me to do when it happened was to call them and they can usually get you in for an appointment the same day and if it is really hurting you, you can use finger nail clippers and cut the wire. They can always replace the wire when you go in.

That is not quite an emergency. You could use pliers to bend it, or if you were given dental wax to place on your brackets you could place a ball of that on the end so it will not poke your cheek any more.

Don't worry! The wire on my toaster oven came out one time too! I took it to a small repair shop in town and it was fixed for under 10 dollars.

I used to wear braces and if you have needle nose plier you can bend it to the side so it doesn't poke you while you wait for an appointment.
