Ok, something is wrong with my mom, mentally. So now she's gone to our grandparents house to talk crazy and my aunt wants to get her to go and get electro shocks to her brain to disable part of it, and if my mom is gone I would be taken away, god im so scared. my dad is calling all of our family and saying shes insane, so they might try to send her somewhere right now, i dont even know. I want her to live a happy life somewhere, maybe in a mental hospital, but not like a zombie. i cant find a reason to live anymore, if she doesnt come back tomorrow i dont know what ill do, my dad is getting sick of her and shes done this 8 years. this is just so complicated, theres other stuff going on to, and i just dont know what to do anymore.

im only 15, what can i do? this is so tense right now i mean what if she doesnt come back tonight like she said? what if i never see her again? our family even put an investigator down here because they believed in what she said, so now theyre mad.

oh and dont freak when you read the electro shock part, thats something she just brought up, i meant they might be trying to get my mom sent to an asylum right now, not to get that done, i would be screaming my head off if they were taking her to get that done, jesus.

And by taken away I mean that my dad isnt here sometimes because he has to work so if my brother isnt her either then the social service people would try to take me away since im still a minor.

Okay, let's try to get this something akin to sorted out.

First of all, it's not nearly as easy to involuntarily commit a person to a mental hospital as it once was; generally, it has to be shown that this person is a danger to him/herself or to others, and even then there is usually a limit on the length of time they can be kept--in state where I live, I believe it's a week, unless it's really bad, like someone on suicide watch or threatening other people.

At 15, again going by the law where I live, you CAN stay home alone (actually, it's 12 here), and at 16 can be left alone overnight. So that's one less thing for you to fret about, unless your father works nights.

I wouldn't worry about never seeing your mother again, even if she is institutionalized. Most places have visiting times and the contact with loved ones is often beneficial to the patient.

Since I don't know all the facts concerning what form your mother's mental illness is taking--and also because I'm not a qualified mental health care professional--I can't say for certain if hospitalization is likely. I CAN say, however, that I've seen a few "drama queens" in my time, people who just blow everything out of all proportion and go running around like Chicken Little, convinced that the sky is falling. If your mother is that kind of person, then she might not be mentally ill at all; she may just have that kind of outlook on life.

Good luck!

OK first of, your mom needs help. second you need help and the way to get them is to talk to some one who you can trust, there doesn't sound like any one in your family is listening to any one else. Is there any church minister you can approach, do it now and today, if not call the help line in the phone book it is generally listed on the inside cover, Just tell them you need some one to advise you and then give them the whole story, I know they will get you on the right track and do not worry about social services just yet,it is you and your mom that need the immediate help

First of all, psychiatrists don't administer shock treatment anymore. They haven't since the 60's, so put that out of your head. If your mom is seriously sick, maybe she should be in a treatment center for a while, not necessarily permanently. They can work wonders with medications these days.

Have you talked to your dad about how you feel? Did you make a suggestion to him about putting her in a mental health institution?

Talk to him and your grandparents about your concerns and what makes you feel if they're doing this to your mother. You are the hope for your mom and your siblings.

If they care for you, they would listen to you.

God bless.

you need to talk to your family members about what is really going on.. that sounds sort of like a bogus question to me.. but if you are seriously having these sort of problems then you need to see a therapist.

don't worry I am sure you will see your mom again. even if she doesn't come back tonight.

If she needs help then she should get. You don't wont her to get any worst do you?

Just stay strong and you will get through this.
