One of your flock challenged me (via e-mail) to attend a church some Sunday. I can’t see why not, so I’m asking this question. I’m 40 something and was raised Baptist. I grew up in the church. I’ve been a practicing Satanist (Modern sort/Atheist) for more than 20 years.

So I’m game. What should I expect and where should I go? I live near Boulder, Colorado.

I’m going skiing tomorrow. I got the boards all waxed and I’m ready to do some cruising.

If you are a Satanist you should surly go to a Catholic Church where the real presence of Jesus will be. I know that you wont though because no matter what anybody says you will not go because your soul knows the truth and it will not want to be where he is. You will come up with every excuse in the world why you don't go and even if a miracle happens and you do go you will feel so uncomfortable. You will uncontrollably sweat and you will be very nervous and your body will be screaming to leave ... When this happens bow your knees and pray to God for forgiveness for you will be in front of the Almighty who made even your Master Satan.

You say you were raised Baptist, so go with what you know and attend a baptist church.

Try and find a small church rather than a large mega church. A small church will welcome you, a large church will help you feel lost in the crowd and you will not get a feel for the love and fellowship that a small church can and will give.

If you are expecting to feel something or expecting to feel nothing, you will be let down. Go with an open heart and listen to the message. Only God can lead you back to him, no man or woman can do anything other than what you e mail challenger did, and that is to plant the seed and wait for God to allow it to grow.
I wish you Godspeed, for the devil does not tempt those whom already belong to him, but he will attack directly those whom leave him for the real deal.

When I became a Christian I refused to go to church until I had read the entire Bible. I have had some bad experiences with Church members well before I became a Christian, and I knew the only way to find out what God wanted from me is to read his word. I could not trust preachers to tell me the truth. I had been lied to by to many to trust them. Many preachers are preachers because they think they will only have to work on Sunday.
So it is quite risky suggesting a church.
If I remember right Satanist embrace the life of the mind, and your mind is bound to be starved in most Churches.

I would suggest instead of a Church that might or might not be good for you, to pay a visit or two to some sites that really boarded my mind and gave me what I feel is reasonable evidence that Christianity has valid points.

It does not matter. Just go to any church. But be careful, some are very shallow and not convincing of the Holy Spirit's presence.

Also, if anyone tells you you're gonna be saved, its your choice. Just because you enter a church doesn't mean you all of a sudden feel a divine presence. Some Christians go to a church with the same respect that they have at an insurance office, just another building.

But just because you didn't accept the faith the first time doesn't mean you are condemned to hell. Go to the beat of your own drum, no one can push you to do this or that, because the individual has the absolute and final authority. If you want to switch over, so be it, if you want to follow the Lord of darkness, so be it.

Church is for the purpose of the assemble of believers and to Help strengthen each other.

But they know unbelievers will stumble in there now and then so you can expect probably near the end of the service a call for people that want to get saved by Christ.

You should expect friendly, welcoming people, a message of God's love and an invitation to return anytime. I hope you go with an open mind and heart and are gracious to the people there, as they will be to you. I am from Colorado, but living in Mexico now..I hear you are going to get another big storm soon.

if, as you say you were "raised" Baptist then you were exposed to The Truth of The Word of God...unless it was the only Bptist church ever to not teach The Word... so, unless you are genuinely seeking to return to God as you know God wants you to do...then why should you go?.... If you do want to go then choose a small bible teaching Church like concervative Baptist or Bible Baptist and go... so long as you behave as you know how in church you should be made welcome...you will find and receive what God wants you to.... you are free to accept or reject as you wish...If you have questions concerning the basics of The True Christian Faith you may email me.

Make sure you bring money (tithe), it keeps them happy.

The preacher is gonna spew the same religious nonsense that you grew up hearing, nothing has changed.

Are you looking for something different?
If you are, then go. Good Luck.
If not, don't go.
