I have 5 tattoos and can't remember any of them being sore for this long. I just got number five 2 1/2 days ago on my upper back, and it is still real sore. It is not infected or anything just sore. the tat shop said that is normal for 2-4 more days but I wanted the publics opinion also. thanks

Since my tat is over 2 days old. I am washing it 2-3 times a day and alternating between tattoo goo lotion and luberderm lotion.
it is a black tribal which is over 5 inch long.

How long does it take for a tattoo to heal?
Tattoo healing times can differ greatly from person to person. Most people are healed within 2 weeks, others can heal at a much slower rate. I've seen tattoos that have taken up to a month to heal. And just because it's healed on the outside, doesn't mean the tattoo is completely healed underneath.

Healing time can depend on the individual and their health. The better your health, the faster you'll heal. Skin type can also be a factor in this.

Healing time can depend on the body part. Some areas will heal faster than others depending on how much you use the body part. Joints and places that flex or bend on a regular basis can take longer to heal. This includes hands and feet, which can take up to a full month to heal because of the difference in the texture of the skin in these spots.

Each artist works differently and certain individual techniques may overwork the skin and cause the tattoo to take a bit longer to heal.

Tattoos that scab may often take a bit longer to heal than a tattoo that peels.

It depends on the tattoo. If it's sloid black and thick, it might take 6-7 days. If it's big with lots of color it will take longer.

If it is sore for more than 10 days, I'd go back to the tattoo parlor and ask them.

it depends. i have had my foot tattoo for seven days and it still hurts, mostly because of all the walking. it seems like my back would be sore for about four days but once the itching started it stopped hurting. and i have had a lot of back tattooing done this year, like 9 hours. good luck with your tattoo healing!!

Usually not more than a day or two ... at most a week. Mine usually getting all porous like i was stung by a bee... they bleed for a couple hours after and then they are sensitive to touch for the day after. then it goes away. A and D oil usually soothes it.

if it's solid black, like a tribal piece, it could be sore for up to a week... maybe as long as ten days. also, large pieces with lots of color take a while to stop being sore.
