How dare you have some monster sized balls to be posting this!
My friends lost everything they had in Katrina. Have you even been to New Orleans? Do you even know that all their "help" still hasn't gotten there!?! It's been over a year, and good ol' Bush still hasn't done a darn thing to fix things. Take a drive down I-10 and see it for yourself.
As far as what I did to help...let's see. I housed two friends who were misplaced, I donated to the Red Cross, I sent food and clothing (with my friends), and I made phone calls for my friends who couldn't reach people they knew.
Let me tell you something else. I went down there to help out some more. I spent money and tried to help their tourism out so that they could return to the way they used to be. It's still horrible down there, and the only "improvements" I can see are the trailers parked outside of their devastated homes...
and that wasn't even the worst part of New Orleans that I saw either.
You better hope there isn't a god, because you will burn for that.

Hello =)
President Bush via his allowing FEMA to degenerate under his famed "homeland security administration" did everything he possibly could to make sure that all volunteer help came too late to be of help to most people.
I suppose, if that is "allowing" churches and organizations to help, then surely, you must be correct. It was, however, not his place to "allow" or "disallow" anyone to help or not help.
I am a Buddhist. We are a small minority, and not very well organized. Mostly, we made individual donations, like I did.
I paid for 100 cases of bottled water, and made a donation to the Red Cross, in lieu of blood, because I cannot donate blood myself. That's what I, as an individual did. It was not much. It was what I could do, though, according to my means.
The bottled water was distributed via a branch of the PA national guard, and not a religious entity.
Many Atheists and Satanists have been very outspoken on the terrible handling of the Katrina disaster, and the environmental issues which contributed to it.
Many "good christians" have remained silent, on these matters, lending their acquiescence to the process that killed so many, and is this nation's greatest shame.
Don't poke at hornet's nests, little boy, you will get stung.
Namaste, and Happy Holidays,
--Tom

What the hell are you talking about??? I am a Katrina victim and I lost everything 9 feet of water...ok. Bush didn't do **** for New Orleans, he came 5 days after Katrina. The churches were not open, everybody was evacuted but a lot of people were stuck...no body was inside the churches. I go to an all girls catholic school and our nuns did help a few people, but it wasn't like thousands. Newsflash, most of the help didn't come from churches,or the national guard, and definetly not Bush. It came from good American citizens who came to help. If you want to praise Bush for being the o so great savior thats fine...but just know that my house and others was sitting in 9 feet of water for 3 weeks. Our state just got the money, and it's not enough. So if you think this **** is funny and you wanna **** with New Orleans your *** is barking up the wrong mother ******* tree!!! Merry Christmas *** hole!!!

I think it's unfortunate that you are such an idiot. Christy knows it too. "(Bush) allowed them to help because most of the help came from them?" What does that even mean? I didn't know George Bush was your saviour. Kiss my ***. I know many wonderful people who volunteered/donated during the hurricanes. Atheists, Agnostics, Secular Humanists, Jews, Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, Taoists, and other. The people I knew on buses going into New Orleans from MA were non-denominational. What the heck did you do? Pray the water would go down and go on about your merry, ignorant life? Or were you one of those down South who sent things to aid families that were only white and Catholic? Blech. It's the holidays. I hope Santa leaves s**t in your stocking. And this is as nice as I can be to someone who asks such an awful question.

I think most of the organizations, like Red Cross, who helped the Katrina victims were not from churches as well as the thousands of people who drove there on their own to lend a helping hand.

Atheists generally have no church (Buddhist temples may be an exception). But one thing these groups did not do is blame Katrina on the so called debauchery of New Orleans or the policies of the US government, unlike many Christian voices.

The Community of Reason, a group of about 20 atheists or near atheists, gathered together clothing, books, and supplies and took them to Mississippi. Mississippi was chosen because Louisiana was getting goods from so many others and Mississippi was comparatively speaking forgotten. Christians can pray; atheists must do direct action.

Members of our church came from all across the county to help the clean up effort. I would have gone but I was not old enough.

well, considering if bush really wanted to help, he would have not wasted any more time and would have had the gov. step in and do something. the only reason that the churchs helped is for publicity. you can deny it all you want but its the truth.
