they were physically written by god...and the tablets given to moses thats the significance

Incorrect the physical tablets that contained the 10 commandments were written by god and given to moses. the commandments are listed in exodus 20 as you mentioned...the physical tablets are what have been answred. Friend you should be careful on the "wrong" call you did not write the question very well and the answers given were correct to the tablets that contained the 10 commandments. I smidge of humility would do you good friend.

Moses went up on the mountain and in the presence of God Almighty received the 10 Commandments written on stone tablets. The significance is not that they were stone, but that God Himself handed them to Moses as a guide and so we can see that none of us can live up to them - thus the need for the free gift of salvation through Christ Jesus.

The ten comandments are significant because they are the laws of God, and actually, the only laws of God. Priests just added more to make it *easier* for the people, easier for them to control them anyway..

Moses recieved them ontop of mount sion I believe, at least that is the story is in the bible
