I walk up way too often in the night with painful, half-asleep arms from sleeping too long on one side. People have reccomended both of these type mattresses to me as a solution, but I can't afford 'trial & error' & wondered what other people's experiences have been with them? If you own one & are a side sleeper, what do/don't you like about them, please?

Side-sleeper here (with a total hip and knee replacement) and I love the Temperpedic. Best $4000 you will ever spend. If you going to spend 1/3 of your life sleeping, you might as well go for the gold!! Godloveya and thanks for this interesting question. P.O. could be you're pillow is affecting your arms. It may be too high and pinching the nerves in your neck. Try a flatter pillow. (retired nurse here)

I tried both at the store and my mom has a termperpedic. I really liked the temperpedic. I was able to sink in and it adjusts to the way I sleep. The sleep number just changes the softness of the bed. It won't do anything about the half asleep arms. Plus I thought it took too long to adjust between numbers so I had to wait and wait there while it made it softer. I recommend the temperpedic.

I don't know about the air one but I have a friend who just got memory foam and loves it. She had back pains and now she sleeps much better and the pain is going away. I tried it and it feels cool, conforms to your body yet provides good support.

Memory foam is the best. Sleep number is just an adjustable level of firmness, the foam actually distributes your weight.

Foam has a tendency to make me hot.
