I'm a bit worried about people not washing their hands after going to the toilet and touching the nuts. So should one serve them in individual dishes with names on. Or should one put a massive sign up in the bathroom with NOW WASH YOUR HANDS on it?

Well nuts are traditional at this time of year arent they. But I get that you are in a right proper quandry.
DONT serve them, cos if you do and all have illnesses its YOUR fault.

I have the same trouble here in the Zoo where I live.
Most of the chaps around here go to the bathroom but they don't wash their nuts.
How can they expect to be served my nuts if they don't even wash their own nuts.
Finally, I had to put up a sign in my cage:
"Don't touch my nuts until you have washed your nuts."

I shouldn't bother doing anything. Those guests with advanced notions of hygiene will avoid the nuts anyway knowing that many men won't have washed their hands and those who don't have the levels of hygiene are probably immune to the diseases by now anyway.

Great question, so many people don't wash their hands, even the pickiest people. I would maybe get small paper cups for individuals, put a spoon in the container and the little "cups" next to it.

I'd go for a sign in the bathroom saying
DONT TOUCH THE NUTS TIL YOU WASH YOUR HANDS!!!!!!!!!!
That should give them a laugh and a reminder too.

Make sure there are plenty of guest towels and nice soap and hope for the best. You can't teach people etiquette at a party. If all else fails, oh well, that's why we have an immune system!
