If I put chips and dip down, he will stand there and FINISH the platter. He goes to the fridge and chugs a beer and takes two back to his seat and does this over so that the best beer is gone in an hour.

If this guest is old enough to drink beer, he is old enough for you to sit him down and have a frank talk with him. Just tell him straight out he is being rude and greedy and you will not tolerate that in your house. If he wants beer to drink, tell him to go to the store and buy his own. He can have his fair share of the food that is put out for everyone, and no more. If he can't live with those rules, then he should not be invited back.

Do not invite him to anymore functions.
To be honest though, I have to tell you that as a host of a party you really should have more than enough food for people just in case one or two people eat a lot more than you expect.

One more thing, you can always have a sit down dinner where YOU are the one serving the food and hand out the proper portions.

I'd pull him aside to a separate room and let him know that it's rude, inconsiderate and inappropriate. If he continues with the rude behaviour then I would put him out. He should look around and realise that he's not the only guest in the house and even though he is a guest, it's not a buffet to take the best of everything so that no-one else gets any.

I've had one or two individuals at my gatherings do this and trust me, after a word and they still don't get it, I put them out.

Either stop inviting him (or if he's a relative) ask his parents not to bring him. He's being very rude and should have far more control than he does. If he's too young to legally have beer, you shouldn't be allowing him to hae it. If he's old enough to have it, stop inviting him.

Don't invite him over, or simply say it bluntly. Save some for the other people that are coming over.. better yet.. hide some food from him

Why I'd get extra food. It's a host's job to properly accommodate their guests thus if you find him an inappropriate guest, do not invite him.

If of family then blunt is the only way... call him aside and lay down the law... assuming subtler methods have not worked... if not family..just drop from the list.

Only thing you can do is leave him out next time. What a buffoon. How old is he, and why hasn't he ever learned any manners?

1) Pull him aside and tell him no more than one helping until eveyrone else has had some;

2) Pull his ignorant parents aside and tell them -- believe they know what's going on, they know their kid or

3) Don't invite them again.
