I know there is a program that allows you to record what you're doing on your computer for a mac, i.e. web browsing, demonstrating a software app(basically anything you are doing in the main window).

I'd like to record a chinese character flash demonstration that is built into another program I have, and use it to place in a video editing environment. I know there is a program for macs that allowed my friend to show the functionality of youtube's website and saves as a quicktime file.

Yes there are some softwares that you can use it for this issue. Actually I know one of these softwares and it's perfect. It can take picture from your screan and also you can see what happened in your computer, which software did you use or what did you type. the name of this software is Golden Eye.
