I currently own 2 cherokees and have worked on dozens more including some with that problem, unfortunatly it could be alot of things, depending on were the shake is in the truck will tell you what to look for. If the truck has the shake in the rear or center and you don't feel it in the steering wheel very much you need to check the tire balance, rear u-joints, or rear shocks. By your question though I am supecting that you can feel it in the wheel and it is coming from the front of the truck, On cherokees the 2wd and 4wd trucks are very similar, so I would say the first things to check are again the tires for balence or uneven wear, if that is not it I would check the wheel bearings (to do this jack the front of the car up and see if the tire and rim will move in and out, not in the turning motion more of the top going in to the body and the bottom coming out) if that isn't the problem you can check the upper and lower control arm bushings these can go bad in a high milage truck, the last thing i would look at is the track bar (these are very common) this is the rod the attaches to the frame on the drives side and the axle (or dummy axle in a 2wd) on the passenger side and controls location of the axle under the truck, when the ball joint (the mount at the frame) goes bad on this it alows the axle to walk side to side and usually is noticed at high speeds because the tires are tracking in and out of grooves in the cement. hope this helps

True, typically it's a tire issue, but it could also be wheel bearings needing adjustment/replacement. Driveline vibration is usually felt at lower speeds (30-45 mph), so I doubt that's the problem.

I had the exact same problem in my jeep. My radiator fan was cracked. It would somewhow make the steering column shake at around 60mph. Check it out. Hope it's that simple.

Your wheels need to be aligned.
Your shocks may need to be replaced.
Your rotars may be slightly warped.
Your engine may need a tune up.
And, it COULD be in the road, but only noticeable at certain speeds.
