I've been to bunches of little block fiestas and you are going to have a blast. You cannot go wrong with beer. Any kind of beer. You don't really need pico de gallo with tamales and they may think it weird if you bring some. All of the Mexicans I know don't eat appetizers at their parties. What they do is drink. You can't go wrong with beer. Have a blast and Merrry Chrismas.

Drinks, ice, booze. I wouldn't think about a complex dish because tamales are pretty much the main deal. Some people are very particular and critical about their salsa too, so you might bring it and it won't get eaten (especially if it's ANYTHING in a jar). You could always feel free to ask them what you can pick up for them, but if they say nothing, you could still bring a nice dessert.

Pico de Gallo - chopped tomatoes fresh, chopped white onion, a little chopped jalapenos, no seeds and fresh, salt a bit to taste and squeeze fresh lime juice over it, stir, cover for about 45 minutes.

Or-Chile Con Queso-melt velveta cheese and add a can of Rotel chilis-great dip. Great for a crock pot.

With one of the dips, bring good fried tortilla chips--not doritos.

Any drink that bubbles from Pepsi to beer-depending on your and your neighbors.

A dessert-cheesecake is always good. Homemade cookies. Your favorite cake will always be eaten.

I'm going to a tamale thingie tonight and I'm taking chili-very good homemade chili.

Have a good time!

A great appetizer is a block of cream cheese with salsa poured over the top, and some sturdy chips to go with it. Be a good idea to call ahead and see if they have a special request or something they may have forgotten to pick up.

Bring to you some hot chocolat. Tamales are hot, and don't mix with alcohol or salsa either

Sangria is tasty. Any kind of appetizer would be fine. Maybe a home made dip?
Sounds like a fun party!
