ok seriously, im just wondering what is the deal with everyone using pantene for their hair. i have come across this in countless questions. do you know what that stuff will do to your hair in the long run!? everyone always says but it makes my hair so silky and soft and shiny, and im going to say this one last time. Because it is basically like a wax on your hair. so of course it looks shiny and feels silky. but seriously, that stuff will damage your hair to no end. i see it all the time. it is one of the Worst shampoo and conditioners to use on your hair. if you dont believe me ask your stylist. the BEST thing to do for your hair to keep it healthy is buy a salon product. they are expensive but they are so worth it because in the end you will be paying more and have very very unhealthy hair if you continue to use pantene or any other product like that. please just for the sake of your hair. im just wondering why everyone has such a fascination with it???

first of all i have used pantene before when i was in highschool and while it did make my hair look good for awhile the end product was horrible, it make my hair so dry and brittle and i got a lot of split ends. i do have very thick hair also so that has nothing to do with it. im happy to see the majority of girls are getting what im saying! GOOD. and no im not just trying to sell salon product because im a cosmotologist, that has nothing to do with it. its because salon people realy do care about your hair believe it or not, that is our job. we study it and learn about it and we want our clients to have great hair. if you were a dr and noticed someone suffering from a condition that was caused by a OTC product would just let them go on their marry way. we arent trying to make money off it, we dont even make much from product sales, at least at mine. all i can say is if you really care about your hair use something that is actually good for it. Good job to those who dont use it!

amen sister friend!!!! lol-people will spend like $100 or more on a damn pair of jeans but your permanent accessory-your hair-people insist on using 99 cent $hit. That's why I sit on here and answer these people's questions-I'm not so sure is pantene is the first problem if I have answered a girls question who was about to pour clorox on her hair to remove her color. PEOPLE ARE CRAZY!! I don't know why they just don't go see a professional-that's one of the first things that people see on you, and they insist on using box color and dollar store shampoo...I guess all we can do is help them and answer their questions

I used to use Pantene also because it made my hair so shiny and silky, but my stylist told me the same thing...that basically it's the most drying product on the market. She recommended Aussie products as a semi-cheap alternative. At first it did seem like my hair was not as shiny or soft, but after about a week or two my hair started looking MUCH healthier than it ever did with Pantene products and it's MUCH stronger now too.

I think Pantene is horrible.
Most of my friends use it and claim all of these things like, "OH PANTENE LEAVES MY HAIR SO SILKY!"....."YOU HAVE TO GET PANTENE, IT LEAVES YOUR HAIR SO SHINY!"......"PANTENE JUST DOESN'T HAVE GREAT QUALITY, BUT A GREAT PRICE TOO!"
And the truth is, their hair looks fried and extremely unhealthy. I completely agree with you that Pantene just ruins your hair!!!! I have always used products such as Matrix, Aveda, K-pak, Nexxus, Nioxxin, and probably some other salon shampoos and conditioners I can't remember and they've always kept my hair shiny, smooth, and healthy. Way more than any drug store shampoo can ever do. Especially PANTENE!

I have been using Pantene Pro-V for at least 13 years, and my hair is very healthy. It does make my hair feel soft, and shiny. It also smells really good. I get compliments on my hair at least once a week, and I will continue to use Pantene. I think it's a very good product. Of course a cosmetologist will advise people to buy their hair products when the ones you can buy at the store are just as good, and no where near as expensive.

I pretty much agree, my daughter also swears by Pantene. I use whatever we get on sale but love the salon products. Occasionally splurge on them. My hair is very healthy and shiny.

Probably because it is cheap, you can get it almost anywhere, and you see commercials for it all the time. Also, if someone has a friend that uses it, and says that they get good results, the other person will probably start using it. But you ARE right, it really damages your hair. Hopefully, lots of people will read this and stop using it!! (Also, they test on animals... Which bothers most animal-lovers like myself!)

I agree with you regarding permed hair--it made a brand new perm I had fall completely out after a short time. I've had good luck with it on straight hair, although I don't use it now out of choice. Respectfully, you answered your own question in your explanation regarding people's fascination with Pantene: It makes their hair soft and shiny.

Advirtising definatly helps. I saw one for the color Pantene shampoo and bought some blonde color for my dark blonde hair. It made my hair get a ton of build up. But, thats the way they get you with their gorgeous models and airbrushed hair. Plus not a ton of people want to spend 20 dollars on salon shampoo.
