There is a prophetic statement told by Sahih Muslim that tells us that prophet Muhammed said that god will forgive sins committed by Muslims and punish Jews and Christians for those sins instead.

I was surprised to read that statement because I thought that god should punish everyone for his/her own sins only.

Is there any reason for that statement?

Could it be because in Islam, Muslim do no wrong, and it is the fault of the Jews and the Christians when those Muslims do sin. The Jews and the Christian made them do it, and it is always their fault, no matter what! Like the Imam who was preaching in Egypt the other day saying that when a man rapes a woman, it is her fault for the way she dress not his fault for being a criminal against her! You know blame the victims, not the attacker. (sarcasm ;( )

This is absolutely a FALSE statement and a distorted Hadith (if you really have read it).

I'm a very religious Muslim and have done massive reading on Islam, attended zillions of religious seminars and have a full Islamic library, and i assure you that there is NO such thing as that.

Those who sin, including Muslims themselves, will get their own punishment/forgiveness from God.

where the hell is your source amigo/amiga??

either you misunderstand the hadith or you just fabricated it.

The prophet continually told his followers to HONOR THE PEOPLE OF THE BOOK (Christians and Jews).

Can you honestly say that the Turkish government of 1915 is forgiven from their crime of genocide against the armenians????

and can you say that great humanitarian christians are gonna get the turks' punishment????? can you say the pope john paul 2nd is gonna get punished for kissing the koran????

can you say Martin Luther King Jr and Gandhi are gonna get punished for being great, justful humans?

why on earth would you ask such a question?

Your statement is so contradicting! The Quran tells us that everymna and woman will answer for his or her own sins, On the day of Judgement, everyone will stand alone. No brother, sister mother, father or friend will be there to answer for us. If what you are saying came from Buhkari, not all of it is sound. Is the hadith daeef?

Allah will forgive for guarantee every sin if we ask true forgiveness from him.

i think u have mistook the meaning.

Allah says in the quran v6:160
"He that doeth good shall have ten times as much to his credit: He that doeth evil shall only be recompensed according to his evil: no wrong shall be done unto (any of) them."
in other verse v 99:7-8
"Then shall anyone who has done an atom's weight of good, see it!
And anyone who has done an atom's weight of evil, shall see it.
it. "

But the most hatred thing near god is to associated partner with him. as Christan said god has son. so here also if we ask forgiveness from him that we will not associate any partner to him he will forgive us.
Telling that Allah has son is the hatred thing near him.
which Allah says in quran:-
"They say: "((Allah)) Most Gracious has begotten a son!"
89 Indeed ye have put forth a thing most monstrous!
90 At it the skies are ready to burst, the earth to split asunder, and the mountains to fall down in utter ruin,
91 That they should invoke a son for ((Allah)) Most Gracious.
92 For it is not consonant with the majesty of ((Allah)) Most Gracious that He should beget a son. "
v 19:81-92

This does not make sense and contradicts with the basics of Islam: everyone is accountable for their own sins. No one will be punished for someone's sins, no matter what their beliefs are.

Please make sure of the information you read and share; double and tripple check your sources.

Peace

A) There should not be such a silly statement by the prophet Mohammed. Show me the source (and I wanna check personally)
B) If you sin, YOU will pay. None else does...

most religions have a body of work built up that attributes knowledge to the founder. people often find any excuse to live life as they wish, not as the beliefs say they should.
