I'm so sorry to hear of your loss dear , my prayers go out to you and your family at such a great loss . Funeral Homes are experts in this area and they will need time to prepare him and make arrangements to send him where the family desires . I understand your desire to go to him and see him right away , time is needed for his preperation . Your feelings are quite natural and understandable . Your grandfather is now in the presence of our lord , take comfort in this knowledge.

A Poem for you and your loved ones

God looked around His
garden
And He found an empty place
He then looked down upon this Earth
And saw your tired face.
He put His arms around you
And lifted you to rest.
God’s garden must be
beautiful,
He only takes the best.
He knew that you were
suffering
He knew you were in pain.
He knew you would never
Get well on this Earth again.
He saw that the road was
Getting rough, and the hills
Were hard to climb,
So He closed your weary eyes
And whispered, “Peace be Thine.”
It broke our hearts to lose you,
But you did not go alone.
Part of us went with you
The day God called you home.

I concur with others.'you can't do anything' until after Christmas. There is a similar situation here. Family member died in bed, at home, in Florida, this past Friday. The direct family, live here in Michigan. Try getting 12 airline tickets on the same flight, same day.
So as callus as this may sound, you are not the only family in this situation.
Sorry for your loss.

I think the issue may be that you are not the next of kin. His children are and so you don't have any real "right" to make any demands of the funeral home. You aren't paying the bill. Also, he may not be ready to be seen yet, they are probably short on staff at Christmas and need to get his body prepared.

Talk with the funeral home director. I'm sure they will let you see him, but they just might not be open during the holidays. Who's in charge of his affairs? Will the body have to be moved, or is he going to be buried in the city he died in? The person who is designated as in charge of his affairs will be the one you will have to talk to to find out what's going on. Usually it's a relative or friend that's in charge of making the decisions on what happens to the body.
Hope this helps...my condolences on your loss :(

You poor dear, I'm so sorry for your and your familys loss.
Maybe they meant that you can't see him until they do what they do to get his body ready for the viewing. I can't imagine a funeral home being so heartless and cruel. Hopefully somebody on here will able to give you a correct answer. God bless.

No they don't HAVE to let you see him, like they said, it's a holiday and you won't be able to see him until after Christmas. Even funeral home staff get to have Christmas off so you will just have to wait.

Now you will find out how terrible the whole medical establishment is. This will cost you a fortune. You will be totally out of control, at their mercy. Make a huge fuss, it's about all you can do.
