Unfortunately, I've never met a Christian who can think for themselves. What ever the bible says or what the church discusses usually dictates their thoughts. It's as simple as that...hard to swallow for some.

Firstly there has to be a separation between people who are attracted to the same sex and the people who act on these feelings.

I have no doubt that people are born as certain way and have no control over this. People who are homosexual in the eyes of Christianity should be seen as equals with no discrimination. The actual act of man and man or woman and woman is what is seen as wrong. Also woman and man before marriage or cheating on a husband/wife in this way is seen as wrong.

This is becasue of the commandments in the Bible from God who state that it is unnatural, as is frequently quoted God created man and woman not man and man. This was for the main purpose, of once in marriage, for procreation of children.

Unfortunately through time human values change, people can be prejudiced and dont completely understand what the Bible says just what they are being told by preachers/family/friends.

Lastly the fact that it is not one of the Ten Commandments does not lower the meaning. It is quoted as a commandment in the Old and New Testament and the punishment for acting on it was severe so it shouldnt be taken as a second rate commandment.

Do not take what Christians may say as catagorically correct, check the Bible and investigate the meaning on your own and come to your own conclusions, do not mix what some Christians may say and what the Bible says

Because they DO NOT UNDERSTAND their own scripture. The Bible does NOT condemn homosexuals and does NOT consider homosexual sex a sin.

The passages in Leviticus, understood IN THE CONTEXT of the time and place, are not an admonishment against loving sexual relationships between people of the same sex but instead against sex as a form of domination and control. Besides, these passages are part of the Holiness Code which is not binding to modern day Christians (or anyone else for that matter).

The story of Sodom and Gomorrah was a warning against rape, inhospitality and xenophobia. The reason for Sodom's destruction is made clear in Ezekiel 16:48-50. According to Ezekiel, the sins of Sodom were pride, laziness, being inhospitable, neglecting the needs of the poor, greed, and idolatry (the worshiping of idols). Nothing about homosexuality is mentioned. If Jude 1:7 describes anything about the sexual immorality and perversion in Sodom and Gomorrah, it's describing RAPE.

1 Corinthians 6:9 was a mistranslation of the word "malakee". It's used elsewhere in the Bible to mean someone who lacks discipline or one who is morally weak, and never is it used in reference to sexuality or gender.

1 Timothy 1:9-10? Also a mistranslation. 1 Timothy was an admonishment against male prostitution, not committed, loving same sex relationships.

The words "physin" and "paraphysin" in Romans 1:26-27 have also been mistranslated. Contrary to popular belief, the word "paraphysin" does not mean "to go against the laws of nature", but rather implies action which is uncharacteristic for that particular person. An example of the word "paraphysin" is used in Romans 11:24, where God acts in an uncharacteristic (paraphysin) way to accept the Gentiles. When the scripture is understood correctly, it implies that it would be unnatural for heterosexuals to live as homosexuals and for homosexuals to live as heterosexuals.

Good question---although other "sexual immoralities" come in for noisy and vociferous condemnations....except when it turns out that it's _the pious person's very own_ child/sibling/parent/friend cohabiting, having an affair, or pregnant outside of marriage. Then, you may encounter a deafening silence.

And if you're looking at "damage or negative impact to society" as a grounds for condemnation of a sin/crime, one could make a LOT better case for damning alcohol use, Enron/similar business crookednesses, and general unwillingness to aid or assist the less fortunate.

I suspect it's because you're gonna find people have a LOT more interest in imagining the "ghastly! shocking! outrageous!"---and therefore very exciting---things (i.e., sexual behaviors) of others, than in looking down on garden-variety sins---which just about everyone has.

I find (speaking as a non-Christian here, FWIW) that it's MUCH more satisfying and easier to feel superior to "THOSE" rotten people---of whatever type---if I can say, "good thing that *I* don't have those defects."

Afraid you're going to catch a lot of flak on this question---stand by to duck!

This is the first time that I have heard anyone call the Ten Commandments 10 crimes. Homosexuality is considered an abomination according to the Bible. The Bible was written by biased men, obviously straight or pretending to be, who were critical of same sex oriented people and women too for that matter.

Homosexuality falls under the Principal sin of Adultery named in the Ten Commandments.

The Ten Commandments list the Principal sins under which all other sins are subsumed.

Homosexuality is specifically named as being an abomination to God, Leviticus 18/22, 20/13. It is also an obviously unnatural sin and it is a very destructive sin, a good reason why our enemy Satan seeks to promote and encourage it. Since sexual feelings and urges run deep it can be a difficult sin to break free from but since it is a learned response, it is possible.

The Lord says the sin is very grievous, Genesis18/20, and God's judgement upon Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities about them, which were given over to homosexuality, and which He overthrew with fire, stands as an ancient example and warning to all.

It is always worth saying that forgiveness for this sin is available through Jesus Christ and that God does save homosexuals and deliver them from their sin.

Though it is a serious sin, lest we be tempted to be judgemental, perhaps it is also worth quoting the well known saying, There, but for the grace of God, go I, and remembering that any sin, even only one small one (if that were possible) will bring us to God's judgement which can only be escaped from through Jesus Christ.

A true Christian should NEVER hate ANYONE period. Many of the Chistian Churches even have gay ministers (right or wrong). Many of the churches, like Methodsits, are taught to love everyone, (Love thy enemy). They just don't want them as the role models of the church, that's all.

It is my firm belief that homosexuality is wrong.
This is based in part on God's Word as written in the Old Testament.
However, being a realistic person, I also believe it's a matter of personal choice. While it may be the choice for some it isn't for me.
But then it's also a personal choice as to whether or not a person is going to believe in the Word of God or just dismiss those parts that don't line up with his/her chosen lifestyle.

I don't know! It's awful that they can discriminate like that and have that dumb excuse of "We're not racist, it's the word of god" Like CRAP it's the word of god!!! Do you discriminate against people with cancer? No! Why? Because you KNOW people don't CHOOSE to be sick! Just like people can't CHOOSE their mentality! GOD chooses who you are!! It's GOD'S choice that they're touched with something just a little bit different!!! My opinion? It is perfectly okay!!
