I just thought of doing something different this year. My family live in two different countries so I'm pretty much by myself here and I'm thinking that instead of staying home and do nothing, maybe I could go out and do something for the less fortunate out there. Do you guys have any ideas? Like for example, if i go to a children's hospital, do i just show up?

Thanks!

This is a very nice idea!

Let your Christmas spirit show. Call that chidren's hospital and find out if you can bring anything. There are plenty of opportunities in the West Coast to help. Just listen to your heart.

You have been very nice this year.

first I want to say that I think you are a very good person to have this kind of thought. Because nowadays, there aren't any people who have this kind of thought.

If you want to help the less fortunate people, there are many ways to help. If you have some left over money, you can use that money and buy either food or clothes give it to the charity or to the homeless children. But even though you don't have money you still can help. How you may ask? Even though you don't have money, you can donate some of your old clothes that you no longer use to homeless children, or to charity. If you don't have money, or even old clothes you still can help. How you may ask again? Well, you can spend some of your freetime (if you have one :)) and use that amount of time to help the homeless children such as taking care of them, play with them while their parents go to work or prepare the holiday.

There are many, many ways if you want to help other. You can always go to the hospital and take care of the elder, or illness children. You don't have to give them money if you don't have because what matter is the thought and the HEART that you put in.

anyway, hope all of these ideas will help you. I also hope you will enjoy your volunteer. I have been volunteer for 6 months, and I am very happy with it. But now I stop because next year i'm so busy. But hope you have a wonderful time volunteering! :)

Do you have an area of town where you see the homeless ?
make up some care packages of hygein products, socks, xmas treats etc. put them in your car and when you see someone , give him/her a package. or buy a bunch of mcdonalds gift certificates and give them out.The elderly are often forgotten and can't get around, or maybe there are others far from home, like yourself and alone

You can go on line and find some places. I think alot of the homeless are in shelters and they are always in need of blankets and gifts as well. Sometimes a warm coffee and acknowledgment can answer what is needed.

pack some clothes/food and send them to a children's hospital, or to a nursing home...or....buy some medicins and send them to africa/other countries-cities you know they have poor ppl....how will you find the adresses? search on the net for human organisations like unicef, or doctors without borders...Besides, if you wanna help, you will definetely find a way because all these ppl are too easy to be found...unfortunately..
