♡My American friends who live here in Japan (as I do) and also have Japanese hubbies have named their girls:
~Hana 華 [ha-nah]= flower; petal
*They say it's close to the name Hannah
~Mari マリー [mah-ree] = Marie; Mary
~Sara 沙羅; 娑羅 [sah-rah] = sal tree (sarasou)
*They say it sounds like Sarah.
~Miki ミキ [me-key] sounds like Micki
My Japanese friends have daughters named Erii (Eh-ree; Ellie), Erika (Eh-ree-ka; Erika)...
There are a few others, but I'm on the train now and almost to my stop, so I have to pack up...
Hope this helps!♡

A couple of examples that come immediately to mind are:
Naomi - usually written as ç´ç¾. ç´ (nao) means straight or amenable in good sense, while ç¾ (mi: also pronounced bi) is a character very often used in girls' names meaning beautiful or pretty.
Rina/Lina - ãªã
Rena/Lena - ã¬ã
These are either written in katakana (representing only sound) as above or in kanji of the parents' choice. (There are quite a few possibilities and would-be parents often spend hours deciding which one is most suitable for their child.)
