I'm sure your parents care. That's a scary situation and if the car was already gone there wasn't much your mom could do.

Did you get the cars lisence plate #? Or at least with a description I would call the police and report it as being suspicious. Tell the disbatcher your story and maybe they can get an officer to occasionally drive through your neighborhood at night.

I don't know how your city works, but ours does that throughout the day.

Next time see if your mom can come pick you up when you're done babysitting or if you have a dog, ask the people if you can bring your dog with you so he's near you when you walk back home. If you're really worried and nothing else works, wear running shoes and put 911 on speed dial!!!

Good Luck, and keep on looking out for suspicious behavior. Trust your instincts, if it feels wrong it probably is.

That sounds very frightening for a girl , glad you made it home safely . Your mom said the first thing that came to mind to keep you safe when she said stay indoors . She may have not immediately realized just how frightened you were and the extent of your experience , I hope you won't be to hard on her , she did show concern right away and came to your room.
Sounds like you may be having a rough time lately , perhaps others things have been piling up and hurting your feelings lately. Perhaps sitting down with your mother and speaking about any difficulties may help or call a friend who is a good listener so you can vent and get things off your chest , that sometimes helps .
I hope that things clear up soon for you , try your best to get through this difficult period and open yourself up for some better communication with people you are comfortable being with. Good luck dear , I wish you a Merry Christmas , try not to dwell on any unhappy situations and find other distractions to keep your mind off these things.

That is actually pretty serious stuff. If I were your mom, I would be all over this... to find out what that was all about. It may have been harmless, but more than likely not. There are a lot of sickos out there who track the patterns of young kids, and may be watching you regularly as you walk home from babysitting.
If you do babysit again, have someone pick you up or drive you home. You mother should insist on this for now. Sound like you are aware of your surroundings, keep up the good work.

I think your mother and family care about you. Your mom probably didn't understand exactly what you said. It's the holiday's and her mind may have been on christmas.

I'm a father and i worry about my kids all the time. These types of things you experienced are scary. Heck, it would have scared me also.

Lot's of crazy people in the world these days, so is great you are okay and weren't hurt in anyway.

I have a step daughter named ashley, I haven't seen her in years and i worry about her cause sometime her mother acted as if she didn't care for her much.

Glad to hear your mom came in and talked to you, show's she cares, hope things are good now. Merry Christmas, and have a happy new year.

well, it doesnt sound like she didnt care, she most likely, just like you, had never faced anything like this before,,, and she did respond after she knew how scared you were,,,,,,,,,not caring would be just that,,,,, knowing you were scared and telling you you were being silly, making things up etc,,,, dont go outside was a good initial response,,, perhaps when telling her you didnt get across how very frightened you were,,,,
just to maybe help you put your mom in perspective, i was bitten by a rattlesnake while walking home from the bus stop,,, when i was 8 years old, we lived in the country,,, i almost died,,,, one day, a month or so after that i was too afraid to finish walking home by myself,, down the same road, had a neighbor call my house and ask my mom to come get me, she refused plus fussed at me when i got home! that is not caring

You should let your mom and family know that you are scared, I don't blame you. If it should happen again try to get the license plate number. Also, when you are walking in the dark have your cell phone ready in your pocket to call 911. I am from NYC so we are used to being on alert.

GOOD CALL, GIRL!

You aught to be Scared! YOU should have gotten the license plate of the car!

Here in Florida, there is a Rash of Kidnappings and most of the time, the bodies are found LATER.....!

The FBI Data says "BE FOR WARNED!"

I do not mean to scare you, BUT YOU BEST HAVE THE ADULT WALK YOU HOME = = NEXT TIME YOU BABYSIT!

Thanks, RR

I'm sorry you had such a scare hun. :( ((hugs))

Inform the people that you were babysitting for (and anyone else that you babysit for) that you HAVE TO have someone escort you home (or pay for a taxi) ... IT'S THEIR RESPONSIBILITY, to ensure you arrive home safely.
