your best bet would be with saxophone [more likely alto, but soprano, tenor, and bari are cool too], trumpet, or trombone. other instruments included drumset, keyboard/piano, and the occasional flute [which is really rare], but they need few people for these positions.

Kazoo!

The Harmonica is a true surprise as a Jazz instrument. (the Harmonicats were very good).

Almost any instrument is a Jazz instrument if it is a Jazzman playing it.

Stephane Grappelli made the violin famous. There have been many on Sax, guitar and piano. You choose what you like, and go from there.

I play the alto saxophone, it's like THE jazz instrument. Tons of famous jazz performers play the sax.

What do you like hearing? Play one of those instruments. Whatever you choose, have fun and practice. It always takes practice.

The Alto Saxophone. What more could you want! And once you've mastered the basics it's fantastic.
