which is totally ILLEGAL, that word means "against the law", is nescessary in recruit training.i told u all of blanket parties, a recruit getting cookies STUFFED down his throat, a drill instructor telling the squad leader to choke me, a drill instructor asking a recruit to show him a pic of his wife, and the DI telling the recruit WHAT is your wife and saying that she is ugly, i was holding my weapon at port arm and the drill instructor hitting the weapon and the weapon swelled my face up, a recruit getting beat up every day by the same DI at the same day because he is a hick from kentucky, a recruit getting blanket partied in the middle of the night, he runs screaming to the DI duty hut, the DI opens the door, laughs in his face, and slammed the door shut, and one of the most worse thing, one recruit got sick, he went to sickbay, the DI told us he died, one down, thirty-nine to go, the recruit's buddy cried alot and finally the DI told us he was still alive

Did you join the Marines because you liked the Uniform? What you posted sounds like scenes from Full Metal Jacket. And the DI in that movie WAS a Marine DI before he was medically retired from wounds recieved in Viet Nam.
It's called psychological conditioning and any GOOD Marine would tell you the same thing
It's the guys like you who got "Stress Cards" invented. Don't forget to keep yours on you and scream "training time out" when the bad guys are shooting at you. I'm sure they'll be happy to oblige you while you collect your wits.
I worked with a lot of damn good Marines during my 10 years active duty as a SeaBee and i can assure you that they would have run you out of the Corps.

You annoyed me BOY and you obviously sectioned out after the first week because you could not control your bladder or bowels.
A DI's job is to teach you how to REACT under HUGE STRESS so you will NOT come back in a BAG!
How do you suppose you are going to learn if the worst thing that ever happened to you was a weggie in hs and everyone laughed at you; you probably soiled the skivvies then too, girly man!
You simply do NOT have the MIND to be a MARINE! So become a clerk and some bosses *****!
If you are squared away and follow the program there is NO BS!
The DI's pick on the WEAK ones for a reason; assume that you were one of them?
They do NOT want some weak pussy boy in combat watching anothers back. There is just NO room for someone like you sucking your thumb, crying and hiding when the SH^& happens.
You would probably last a week in combat because one of your team would "FRAG" you because you were a LIABILITY to the TEAM!
You probably wrote letters and begged mommy and daddy to bring you home; YOU ARE LESS THAN WORTHLESS BOY!
They complain about the GAYs in the MILITARY and you make them look like RAMBO!
So get in your footie jammies and go to bed with your thumb in your mouth you little PUKE!

They can't touch a recruit, period. Drill instructors can be court-martialed by the Marine Corps if they so much as lay a finger on a recruit. This is why if say a recruit falls down on a run, all the Drill Instructor can do is shout at the recruit to get back up if he isn't hurt. Moreover, Army Drill Sergeants, Navy Instructors, and Air Force Training Instructors are not allowed to touch the recruits they train either, or they can be court-martialed.

For t o, we had an 8 week boot camp at that time and then we went to the Infantry Training Regiment. ITR was longer then and we got gas chamber and some of the other training in ITR rather than boot camp. Overall, training was shortened somewhat during the Vietnam era. At the time of "Full Metal Jacket" it was illegal for recruits to be hit. It wasn't enforced and most recruits got a few punches during training. In 1969 or 1970, there was a congressional hearing on the treatment of Marine recruits and the regulations were more strictly enforced. We were verbally abuse in more ways than you can imagine. We were maggots, assholes, your girlfriend was Sally Rottencrotch and she was screwing all your friends. Sometimes even your mother was a whore. It was part of the breaking you down before they built you up into a Marine. It isn't like that today. The episode where they say, "This is my rifle, this is my gun. This is for shooting, this is for fun," was true to life as was much of the movie. The worst treatment I saw of a recruit was of a pickup in first phase. You can use another question to find out what a pickup is. They took a big garbage can in the barracks, a 30 Gal. tin can, dumped the trash out and turned it upside down over this recruit. Then they started beating on it with sticks and asking him if he was ready to become a Marine. That day, the platoon went outside to wash our skivvies and utilities. We could hear them yelling at him and beating the trash can. He was a big, dumb recruit. I spent hours with him in the head at night tutoring him on subjects like Marine Corps history to get him through. He was honor Marine for our platoon. There was another recruit who got special treatment. We were in the first week at the rifle range, what they call "grass week" now. I think they try to make sure all the mental cases are gone before they give them a loaded rifle. All three DI's hovered over this recruit for a couple of hours yelling at him, telling him he was doing everything wrong and he would never be a Marine. Eventually, this recruit was lieing on the ground pounding his fists and kicking the ground like a baby, calling for his mother. He was sent to the mental ward of the Naval Hospital for rehabilitation before he was sent home. We saw him toward the end of our training and he was on mess duty awaiting his ticket home; he told us he was in the mental ward. Marine Corps Recruit Training is not for the weak, especially the weak of mind. They can fix many of the physical problems, if you can't hack it mentally they will destroy you.

i guess training is supposed to prepare you for war, the drill instructors have to throw the worst at you and see that you make it through. Although its true that some DI's abuse of this some get reported and some dont. In a war time situation those who were able to handle the treatment at boot camp will be able to take on anything. When being captured i would assume you go through much worse. USMC training is one of the hardest and longest, that should have been a warning from the recruiter. In my platoon the DI's would tell us that they hoped that we would get blown up in Iraq . A lot of games were played but its recruit training and not something most civilians can take.

Did all of that stuff happen ,sure . Were you drafted ,I doubt it. I know you want to think that americans hold servicemembers in high regard ,some do i'll grant you but most think "THAT'S A GOOD JOB FOR YOU (loser)!" . My best friend said that to me 20 years ago (not the loser part ,but I felt like he meant it) and ask them if they want THEIR kids to go in or THEIR daughter to marry an enlisted man -in your heart you know the answer and the truth is most people are glad its happening to some poor sucker that is guarding their behind. It really comes down to the movie a FEW GOOD MEN ,we all loved when Cruises characture breaks Nicolson on the stand but truth be told "WE CAN"T HANDLE THE TRUTH!"

I believe this would happen to you. The DI picked billy bad recruits and beat them up, If you do what you are told without bellyacheing and screwing up. Being told your buddy is dead is part of the game, you still have to function. You wanted to be part of the baddest organization around, you got what you asked for

First and foremost I want to say I'm sorry I know that things like this happen I went to school with a boy that went into the Marine Corps and was hit in the face with his own rifle. But NOT....every drill instructor is like that YES IT DOES HAPPEN AND YES IT IS WRONG but my Boyfriend soon to be husband is a Drill Instructor and I asked him did things like this happen, in so many words Yes they do and I asked him had he ever did that and he said no THERE IS RULSE AGAINST IT! Maybe these drill instructors are taking it into their own hands but when it comes down to it ITS STILL AGAINST THE LAW so I'm sorry for what happened to you. But keep in mind NOT every drill instructor is like that.

While that behavior may be wrong, I can totally understand the DIs, though. I mean, just a couple of sentences from you and I already want to choke the crap out of you.
