One Hershey's Kiss?

Will my dog have fun?

She's ~55 lbs.

I mean if she takes it like a drug. Will she feel euphoric? I'm not trying to hurt her, are you insane? I'm trying to give her a good time.

What's with the rat poison comparisons -- there's a big difference.

a little bit?there's on y a really,really,really low percent-chance(like only1%) that a hershy's kiss will even do any harm at all,so yeah i guess.

No. Chocolate is poisonous to dogs. Would you have fun if you ate just a little rat poison? Even if it tasted good going down? Of course not. It won't kill you, but it's no good, even in tiny amounts. Your dog relies on you to take care of her, and not risk her health. How about you eat the chocolate and give her some head scratches instead? :)

fun? about as much fun as if you gave her an appropriate treat. Dog's don't have chocolate fantasies like we do. Give her a pupperoni or some other dog treat, she'll love it, have fun and it's made for her.

Technically 1 hershey kiss shouldn't harm a dog that size, but it is a bad habit to start. You don't want her to think that chocolate is ok to get into and eat.

It depends on the individual dog and how lucky you and the dog are. I've heard of dogs getting very sick or even dying from eating just a tiny bit of chocolate, and a dog that ate half of a pound box of assorted chocolates and not have a bit of trouble (except from her owner).

The best answer is, why risk your dog's life? There are plenty of dog treats out on the market, or if you must give your dog people food, try something healthy.

Our dog likes raw carrots. And apples and bananas. Frozen green beans. Uncooked and cooked oatmeal. Dried lentils. Our vet said, as long as we don't over do it, those are alright for snacks for the dog. She said, no fruit pits or seeds. Stay away from citrus fruits and tomatoes. No grapes or raisins. And absolutely no chocolate!

First one hersheys kiss will not kill the dog, but at that size she wont even taste it, its gonna go down in a gulp = so much for fun. Fun for a dog is attention and the occasional treat. Buy appropriate treats for her , or if you have to give her human food she would have a whole lot more fun with a piece of meat.

Chocolate contains theobromine which is a poison to dogs. If the dog develops a taste for chocolate he/she will get into any they can find and that can be fatal. It is not a drug to give the animal a good time. They will eat it, but than dogs eat most food anyway.

Before giving your dog any, please read:

If you want your dog to have a good time, give him/her regular dog treats and play with them. Don't risk the health of your dog on a poison.

My ex roomate had a border collie and she ate a 1lb box of See's chocolate which was under the Christmas tree. I have owned 3 American bull terriers during my life and all 3 have had chocolate with no ill effect. Sorry I can't definitively say it will or will not harm your dog, but nothing happened with mine or my room mates.

No. Chocolate irritates a dog's stomach, among other things - which is no fun for anyone. There are literally hundreds of treats made especially for dogs, and I'm sure you can find some fun ones for her!

Try the white confection that is a stand-in for white chocolate or some carob doggie treats. Dark chocolate is the worst for dogs because it contains the highest amount of cacao.

its best not to ever feed a dog chocoalte, the alkali in the chocaolate is wahts deadly to them, even a littel will cause them digestive problems as tehy do nto haev the same systems we humans do, buy soem biscuits and when yoru enjoying chocolate give the dog one of those, it will never know the difference

My dog (a husky-shephard) ate an entire family sized bar of chocolate and he was fine. I think it depends on the dog and I certainly don't think it will kill them immeadiatley, but be careful all the same.
