Christmas Morning while she's opening up presents- it's romantic and sweet, and she'll always have fond memories of it every Christmas from here on. You could hang the ring from a branch on the tree, or wrap a ribbon around the box and hang it like that. Better yet, just have the opened ring box under the tree where it will be the first thing she'll see. When she turns around, be on bended knee!
New Years Eve is a good idea too...you could get on bended knee a minute before midnight, and tell her that you want to start off the new year with her as your fiancee - I guarentee she will be speachless.
Just a few idea's. Either way, I'm sure she'll say yes! Best wishes, and an early congratulations!

This is a time that should be very special to you both. Christmas is good but it is usually a time that is spent with family. Unless you propose in front of her family then that would be a good time. But why not New Years because, it is the beginning of a New Year. So it should be the beginning of your lives together. That to me would make it more intimate for the both of you.

Aww how sweet! I would say New Year's at midnight. It much more romantic. Get on one knee about four seconds before the ball is completely dropped. Good luck and I hope you guys have a long and happy life together.

I think you should do it on New Years Day!! It would be a wonderful to bring in the New Year with her as your fiance!! However I think you should do it like this... put the ring with its original container in another oversized box, fill it with heavy paper, and wrap it with Christmas paper and bow. Then hand it to her and tell her its a late Christmas gift!!
That way the ring will be a Christmas gift and the engagement will be a New Years event!! Two in One!!

New Years is better. My first fiancee proposed on Christmas in front of his family, and I felt like I had to say yes to save him from embarrassment. Unfortunately, he was not the man for me, and I ended up breaking up with him on Valentines Day, a year later, after the death of our son.

I would say New Years. It can be more dramatic. I like the idea of dropping to your knee right as the ball drops, just make sure you have there attention. Good luck, and I hope you two have a great life together.

New Year's, because it is so much more romantic. You should do it as soon as the ball is starting to drop. She'll definetely appreciate the fact that this symbolizes that you want to refresh and start your new life on the right foot with HER.
