Mostly because more than half their money goes to pay for loans from the US made during the famines 20 and 30 years ago. Any other country would have given the money freely, or forgiven the loans, but not the money hungry US government. They'd rather see babies starve than lose even one cent of interest. And sadly, if the US citizens knew about most of these loans, they would be incensed!

I don't think it has anything to do with the religions they practice, I think it has more to do with snowballing other countries (or not) in the greedy pursuit of worshipping the almighty dollar.
