I connected with an old friend from high school two weeks ago. We have had really great conversations but she is taking it way too far and too seriously. I think she is convinced I am the one after only two weeks of talking and one visit. I don't want to hurt her at all, but I also need her to know I don't have romantic feelings for her...and it's Christmas time. I can't string her along until after Christmas because it's not fair but I don't want to destroy her and ruin her Christmas too.

First off, I would like to say that it's awesome you don't want to string her along. I know a lot of guys who will do that because they don't have the guts to fess up.
It is tough because of the time of year, but it's not like you're breaking ties with someone that you've had a long history with and spent previous holidays with (unless of course Thanksgiving was with her). Either way, you just basically have to spill it, respectfully of course, and near the beginning of a conversation (she'll be twice as ticked if you go through a whole hour or longer conversation before saying anything).
I've been there, I know how hard it is, but it'll be worth while for both of you.

Don't say anything till after Christmas. Just casually mention you have Christmas Day and New Year's Eve plans. She will hurt a little, but, she should not have rushed things so much, so fast. Talk to her on the phone if you want, but do not call her to go out. Then, back off on the phone calls.

Talk to her face-to-face. Not over the phone or thru email. This would be cold.
You have to be straight up with her. Let her know that you enjoy her friendship and maybe down the line something may happen but right now you don't want a commitment.

the best thing to do is tell her. if she thinks that ur the one, she may try to hang on for a while,a nd she may never stop liking u, but if she loves u as much as she says, then she will respect ur decision and tell u she understands. if she skyrockest out of controol, the best thing to do is to deplet contact for a day or two, then try talking to her after she has time to think it out. hope this helps, and have a great Christmas!!!

If the problem is that you are just not interested in her around Christmas, then tell her that you only want to have conversation until after the hollidays.

Buy her a brand new Lincoln and the life time use of your credit card, then tell her that's it. That will soften the blow, and make you feel better.
When the bills pile up to the ceiling you'll know that she's not taking it too hard.

Please don't ruin her Christmas. Find someone that you believe she will be happy goping out with and FIX THEM UP. This would be a nice thing to do and she should appreciate it. You might double date with them on the first date to make sure that she is "OK" with him. Have a great holiday season.

A white lie might be in order, it'll help save face for her and you. ask if you can ask for her advise about your romatic intrests another lady. Let her know you value her female friendship and input.
