you should consider several factors, first can you haev another dog, some cities limit ownership to 2 within city limits unless youbhaev a kennel license, what is the temperment of your curent dogs. waht will ebt he temperment of the dog you will get? do you haev space and time for antoher dog? we introduced a puppy in with our dogs we had had for several years tnd they were ok w it, dogs are pac animals and one will attmpet to establish dominace, does not matter the breed or if tis pure or nto unless you have one of the known ill tempered dogs like a pit bull

Being U already are a dog owner, I am sure you realise taking on another dog especially a puppy means WORK, patience, and most of all love. Having been a labrador owner for 20 years+ is there any other breed? CK out all the nearest humane pounds! A friend of mine got a Hananese at a near by pound. He weighs no more the 5-8lbs. Tiny lap dog. If U were to buy that breed U are looking at $2000. There are some real finds waiting to find a good home. Saves U and your home by getting an adult dog, besides you may save a life! Good luck! and Merry Christmas.

It is really up to you, but if you have the time then go for it. Dogs are the greatest and I would have 10 if I could. You know what it is all about so the only question you have to ask yourself is having a new loving, wonderful puppy in my family worth the work? If yes I would tell you to get a Lab puppy. I have had tons of different breeds and although I loved the dog I never fell in love with a breed until I met and then got my first Lab. They are the most loving, loyal, dedicated, deversified, intelligent dog. They love everyone and everything. The absolutely thrive on you being with them and loving them. They all think they are lap dogs, mine is 120 lbs and he thinks he fits on my lap. There is nothing you can not train them to do and it is pretty easy. I aboslutely adore them and I would never live without one again. They are great with other dogs and kids.
Or you could check out your local shelters and rescue groups they always have puppies looking for loving homes. petfinder.com is great for that. I prefer male dogs, they do not seem to be as moody as females and are a little goofier.

Having a puppy this time of year is wonderful! Please do adopt from a shelter, or take a look on www.petfinder.com - it's a wonderful resource for finding adoptable pets.

You should also give yourself more time (and less pressure) for bringing home a puppy. I recommend bringing your current dogs to meet a puppy, or a little older puppy/dog, so they they will all get along.

When you do adopt or buy from a breeder, there is often a waiting period (and forms to fill out) to make sure that you are committed to helping the dog/puppy and know that it is a good 10 - 15 year commitment.

We have a 7 month old puppy that we adopted from a rescue group when she was 4 months old. We found her on www.petfinder.com which is why I recommend it. She is still full of puppy-ness, both good and challenging behavior. We are thrilled with our puppy, and fell lucky to have her in our lives.

Good luck and feel confident that wanting a puppy is great, sharing your life with dogs is wonderful and so worth it, and don't put so much pressure on yourself. You can always print out a photo of a dog and wrap that for under the tree.

Getting a new puppy isn't something you jump into, It takes a certain amount of care and alot time and dedication to raise a puppy. You have to weight the pro's and con's of each decision. From there if you decide on getting a puppy I would definitely go with a full breed, and a female (less aggressive). Good Luck! Merry Christmas

first off you should probaly get a puppy because they grow up with you. there are so many dogs out there and mainly puppies that need home. consider where you live and how big is your home. find one that will accept other dogs. some breeds believe it or not like to be the alfa dog. long haired or short. what are the sexes of the other dogs. so many decisions for you to consider so think on it. look on the petfinder.org in your area and see what they have. or go to the local animal shelter and take a look. good luck with whatever you do and merry xmas

I no wanting to get a puppy is very tempting....they are just so darn cute. BUT you have to be willing to take care of them...they are alot of work. If you do decide to get one though, the breed or size would depend on the type of enviornment you have to keep them in. I have two muts, and they are the sweetest animals in the world. People should give them alot more credit than they do. But then again, pure breds are just as good. They can get registered, and can be entered into shows. I had a golden retriever that was sooo gorgeous, I loved him!! So pretty much, I guess it would just depend on the time, money, and space your have to put up with, keep, and spend on the dog. I hope you find my input helpful. Good luck!!

I would think of room first, how big your yard? You not want it smelling, that, to me, a sign of bad hygiene for the dogs.
Next, is what day is this and where can you find a puppy today. Newspaper may be your only option or something like Petsmart, which will be limited in selection and expensive.
I prefer mutts and some can look pure bred. I not too big on supporting AKC etc, by giving them money for papers. Heck, I can print my own "Mutt" papers on my computer if I want papers and it be something Funny. I not into dog breeding.
The link is Pet Finders, you may find something in your area that open today. On left enter what you want, I just enter "Dog" and "Zip Code" and browse.

Please adopt a dog, preferably a full grown one. Christmastime is one of the hardest times for the shelter community. Everyone is dropping their dogs off at the pound because they're traveling, or they're buying a new puppy and have no use for their now full grown dog. No one is adopting - "Christmas cheer" doesn't extend to our homeless animals.

Euthanasia continues each day of the holiday season. I read a blog (listed below) by a rescue organization volunteer who pulls animals out of NYC kill shelters. This morning, Christmas eve, ONE shelter she adopts from has 44 cats on their euthanasia list. I can assure you the numbers for dogs are similar. This is ONE of the MANY shelters in NYC, and ONE of the THOUSANDS of shelters in this country. If you decide to get a dog, I implore you to adopt a loving and needy animal!
