The other day I asked a question about whether to put the hershey kiss before or after I bake the cookies and most people said to put it in after. I am making the cookies right now and I tested three cookies and when I put the hershey kiss in after I baked the cookies, they began to melt and then I tested one cookie by puting the kiss in first and its a mess!!! After I bake the cookies, should I wait 10 minutes to put the kisses in or what? I made these cookies a whole year and a half ago and I CAN'T REMEMBER AT ALL how I made them so well!!! NEED HELP ASAP!!

Before you put the cookie to bake place your thumb in the center to create a well - when the cookies com out allow to cool enough the the kiss will stick but not melt - if the cool too much use a bit of icing as a glue to hold the kiss to the cookie. Hoipe this helps!

---------------Icing Recipe---
3 large egg whites
4 3/4 cups powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
In a large clean bowl, beat egg whites and cream of tartar with electric mixer at medium speed.
Add powdered sugar in small amounts, mixing well on high speed after each addition.
Beat on high speed 4-5 minutes or until mixture thickens.
Refrigerate, covered, until ready to use.
You may need to stir icing to soften before use.

You need to let them set undisturbed for a while to let the chocolate harden. My guess is that they are melted but still retaining their shape (if you put the kisses on after they come out of the oven), this helps bind the chocolate to the cookie. If they are melting and losing their shape, you would want to wait a few minutes before putting the kisses on. From what I remember, I used to be able to put the kisses on a minute or two after they came out of the oven and they were fine.

Good luck

The kiss will get very gooey only if you keep it in a warm place. Room temp isn't enough to make a kiss melt. The cookies shouldn't stick together either if they are completely cooled. If you want to keep them soft until you give them away, place a piece of bread in the container. I keep all my cookies in a container with a piece of bread on top, only replacing it when the bread gets hard, and they stay fresh for quite some time.

Have your kisses unwrapped and ready to go. Press them down in the middle of the cookie AS SOON as they come out. Let stand for 2-3 min. You can then transfer (I put mine on newspaper) to make more. It will take a good 5-10 min for kisses to harden again. Don't touch the kisses til then or they will lose their shape.

Bake the cookies and then let them cool. After about 15-20 minutes put the kiss on top. It shouldnt melt by then.

you're supposed to put them in after you bake the cookies, and i'd let them cool for a little but they're supposed to still be warm. Its ok if the kisses melt a little, they'll reharden enough once they cool and still taste good. Happy Holidays!

cool the cookies completely. put the kisses on waxed paper on top of the oven )outside, on the stove) until the bottoms are just a tiny bit melty, then put them on top of the cookies, and press them down a little.
