A36- general structural shapes
A 572 - tubing and tube steel- round and square- not for conveying fluids
A53- pressure piping- condenser water, cooling water, etc.

there are a zillion others possible but these are most common. ASTM and ANSI/ASME B31 have many more choices, specifications, and design criteria for the other types.

Generally in civil building constructions Mild steel is used because SS is most costlier than MS.
