I have backyard chickens, 3 hens and a recent one turned out to be a male. Live in the burbs with close neighbors. He is beautiful but starting to be noisey all day. I would like to keep him if there is a medical procedure to silence him, that would be more humane than him on the dinner table

Just put more layers of duct tape across the broken window of your double-wide. The extra insulation will dampen the noise a little. Or you could put him in the same shed as your meth-lab... the fumes might quiet him down.

Oh how sad.It would be nice to find Mr Rooster a home
where a Rooster could do what a Rooster does.

A vet could probably clip the vocal chords but

that would sort of be a bummer too though I understand about the noise.

Some neighbors may actually like it.I guess you

could ask them how they feel about it.

I don't like em for eating myself. My grandparents

never killed and ate theirs either that I remember.

I mean, you CAN but there are better capons for eating if that's

your taste,not Mr. Rooster.

i have never heard of anyway to silence a rooster. that is one of the sounds he was given from god and mother nature. just like cats meowing, dogs barking, geese honking etc.
Why not just find him a home with lots of female chickens that can use him to fertilize the eggs. Why kill something that is meant to be happy and beautiful on this earth as you said.

There is a throat surgery : but finding a vet to do it is somewhat a problem.......
Try starting with a parrot vet.
I am not sure if caponizing (neutering) him would work - it might be easier to find a vet to do THAT.

I know of very few vets who would purposely disfigure an animal in that way.

Get him plenty of hens so he would get tired and wake up late.
