Zyprexa is not an antidepressant, it is an anti-psychotic for people with anxiety, schizophrenia, delusions or paranoia. It can be used for numerous causes. The "flatness" that people sometimes feel can be misleading. I took this medication a long time ago and felt the same way- looking back on this years ago, I realized that I was actually feeling "normal" (or whatever that is). I had no fluctuation in my moods or feelings, and that gave me the impression that I was feeling "flat." After a while of feeling stress, anxious, paranoid or psychotic, the person adapts to this way of feeling and living, and having it taken away by a medication makes us feel "flat." The best thing to do it take it as prescribed, and then develop coping skills and relationships with the newfound "calm." Over time, you will adapt to feeling this way as well and realize that you have to relearn how to feel healthy. Do not stop taking it because you feel "weird" or are missing the so called "feelings."

Hello =)

Most antidepressant medications have the initial symptom of making you feel "emotionally flat".....after all, they're supposed to keep you from having huge emotional mood swings, so this would be a natural side-effect.

I have found that after a few years of taking a similar medication (Paxil) that the emotional flatness goes away, and while you never again are as emotional as you used to be, you are once again aware of your emotions. This new awareness is something different, however...almost as if you are looking at yourself from outside yourself.....something that you will never find in a "clinical trial" study....

Stay with your medication....it is better for you, overall, and the side effects will diminish with time.

Namaste,

I'm not sure but it makes you blow up like baloon!
most anti-psychosis drugs make you feelings flat & your mind blank, especially after you come off them. I take a much less dosage than my dr has told me to take & if it's helping me that's enough. Usually Dr's give a much higher doage so be careful & don't let them push you around with drugs as they can pump u up with them & if sth gives u bad side-effects or makes u uncomfortable complain about it.
with luv

Read the side effects on the leaflet enclosed with your medication. If you are suffering from any side effects that are NOT mentioned you need to conslut your doctor.
