let me repost this...

Your teacher was right!! Surely she was referring to the "do" in our English questions, like "Do you play tennis?"

Spanish questions do not use the helping word "do"...Spanish just says "?juegas tennis?" without any "do" so don't jump to the conclusion that your teacher was wrong. She's right about "do" in questions

if you asking about the verb to do= hacer
but there's no DO alone in Spanish

Like when you ask... do you like to dance? te gusta bailar? and in English you say ... I do in Spanish you just say ..si

Your teacher is very much right that the word DO is not used in Spanish. I see alot of people have used the word HACER but HACER is not DO but it is used for TO DO , TO MAKE and TO DO is not DO. Example HOW DO YOU LIKE MY NEW CAR? would be QUE LE PARECE MI NUEVO CARRO? Hacer can only be used when you are referring to DO as in to do something
WHAT IS HE DOING NOW? QUE ESTA HACIENDO AHORA?
THAT WILL DO. YA ESTA BIEN
DO YOU PLAY THE PIANO ? SABES TOCAR EL PIANO?
I think you get my drift at least I hope you do and you can see that your teacher was not wrong but very much right.

Hacer

It is an irregular verb "hacer."

Hacer means "to make" and it also means "to do."

I do my homework = (Yo) hago mi tarea.

It's an irregular verb, so the conjugations are as follows:

Yo hago
Tu haces
El/ella/usted hace
Nosotros/nosotras hacemos
Vosotros/Vosotras haceis
Els/Ellas/Ustedes hacen

to make or to do is "hacer"
like to do the homework - hacer la tarea.
you just have to conjugate the verb.
yo hago
tu haces
el/ella/ud hace
nosotros hacemos
ellos/ellas/uds hacen
