I use to think the same way but I realized that one's faith gets stronger when they attend church. The pastor's job is to remind his congregation about God and Jesus's words. Basically, if you are capable of attending church you should go. In church, not only are you praising the Lord with all your might but you also give back to them through funds (charity is always treasured). Regarding the cuss words, I don't think they get mad because you are defying God, it is just that cuss words are disrespectful.

I do not believe that you need to go to church to be a Christian or even a good person. Outward acts of faith are not a true measure of what is in your heart.

Some people go to church because they truly want to go there and feel uplifted. It helps them feel closer to God, and re-affirm their faith, especially in a community of believers who can help each other sustain their spirituality.

Some people go to church looking for faith. Some people go out of a sense of duty or sense of habit. Some go to "look good" and to let everyone know that they are a Christian. I don't agree with that, but it is not up to us to judge those people.

To go, or not to go to church, that is a peronal matter. And you're right; God hears and knows what is in your heart everywhere.

However, I get the impression that you are not especially impressed with the church experiences you have had. If you do want to be part of a congregation, but haven't found the right fit, you can always do some church-shopping.

Take care!

PS: I'm not going to church for Christmas. I don't go the rest of the year, and I don't want to be a twice-a-year Christian. I don't feel this makes me a bad person. I just feel that I don't need a church service to feel connected to God and the birth of Jesus.

A church is God's dwelling here on earth. We have to respect it.
You don't do crazy stuff when you go to a hospital or to a funeral. What more when you are inside the house of God?

To be Christian is NOT to live alone in Christ. Jesus calls us to community...think the Holy Trinity, Father Son and Holy Spirit. It matters that you do not regress into isolation because you will easily deceive yourself and your progress in Christian living. Yes, your soul, heart of your faith is important, but even this good intention can not stand alone without community action towards others. Jesus did not isolate Himself, He taught us by His actions constantly.

Cussing, and vulgarity of language is simply laziness and rudeness. Not good in any environment, and shows a lack of education and kindness towards others. Again, speak as if others were near and listening to your words.

God Bless. Merry Christmas to you and yours. Rejoice the Savior is Born.

I agree with you in regards to the hypocritical thing.

However, respect is what you should have in a place of worship- if not for the people, for God himself.

I totally agree with you. I hate church, and orginized religion. Just be a good person, and you will do fine. You do not need a higher power to make you a good person.
