do you mean parsnips? they are the usual root veg along with potatoes
I find they cook quicker than roast potatoes - but of course that depends on how small you cut them.
if you halve them lengthways and don't par-boil them first they will probably take about 45 minutes if the fat is very hot

Season turnips with salt and pepper. In a large ovenproof saute pan, heat butter until it is just starting to brown. Add turnips and toss to coat well. Saute until light golden brown, about 8 to 9 minutes.

Not sure about turnips but parsnips take approx 50 mins
