Actually, I would be leery of the food if the cook refuses to eat it. If it looks like you refuse to eat it, people could wonder what's up with it. A cook eating his own food proves to others it is safe and good to eat.

That depends!

As long as you're being courteous enough to sample the other dishes there (and praise the chefs), there is nothing wrong with eating from your own dish.

However, do not take portion of your own dish larger than the portions you are sampling of other dishes.

And if you notice your dish is especially popular--it is being gobbled up quickly and there will be no left-overs--that is the only scenario where it'd be a faux pas to eat your own dish. Make sure everyone who wants to dig in can do so before you do!

No as long as others are eating it too. Also if it is not a "best seller", eating some of it, will save you the embarrassment of having an almost full dish to leave with. You know it is good, and you like it, so enjoy it too.

No, not if you brought enough to go around, or at least a reasonable amount. Hopefully you made a dish you like, and you are entitled to eat some of it. Good Luck!!

No, not at all. I have some food allergies and will frequently eat my own dish to ensure that I will not go hungry.

I think it's okay to have some of our own dish, as long as everybody else gets to have some too.

No, but don't eat too much and leave the rest to others.

No, I don't think so. Just don't eat much. After all, it's intended for everyone else to enjoy...
