It is unfortunate that the racist, hate-mongers, neo-nazis, skinheads, etc. are all strongly anti-illegal. I feel uncomfortable being on the same side of any issue as them. If it were up to me personally, I would make the following deal with Mexico: for each of our racist, bigot skinheads you take off our hands; we will accept one of your citizens here in the U.S. Give me a non-English speaking illegal immigrant over one on those obnoxious and destructive neo-Nazi, skinheads any day!

Absolutely. There's nothing wrong with people of latino extraction, the issue that has people choked is the illegal immigration part.
Basically, what has happened, is that some companies and corporations have basically decided to go ahead and start soliciting workers out of Mexico and points beyond, without any real permission or authority to do so, no 'vaya con permiso', as it were, and here we are several years later hearing how the people that've come to 'el norte' to work now basically want voting rights and citizenship etc. This is very much an issue of poor corporate governance, and even worse public oversight.
This is also not an issue confined to the United States, but rather a global problem. There's countries out there that have NO control over their population growth, haven't really done anything major for themselves in the way of industry etc., so poverty's rampant, and I guess you can't really blame people for wanting to bolt for some country where there's money to be made, but all that really is is a band-aid. The REAL benefit will come for these countries when they put on their thinking caps and start pondering issues like sustainability, and managed growth rates, so forth and so on. I don't think it's an insoluble problem, but the
blanket answer seems to be 'move to the United States', and I just don't know how that's going to work out, and going by what I keep reading, I'm apparently not alone in my concerns.
There's 6.5 billion people in the world, they can't all move to the USA....that is, unless we're willing(or maybe basically forced?) to accept massive and unrestricted population growth...personally, I think such concepts point to both negligence and the need for drug-testing in some circles...
My suggestion is, write to Congress/your representative, and keep expressing support for immigration reform, enforcement first, guest worker concepts later, but emphasis on upholding existing laws before anything else happens, even if it costs some companies their business licenses...some things are arguably more important than money, and rampant illegal immigration does hold the sinister promise of future disharmony, ergo it needs to be addressed thoroughly and professionally.
Here's another thought: There's 200 or so countries in the world, give or take an island here and there. If our country invested say, about a billion each, in helping them do things like build schools, I do believe it'd be a worthy investment, something positive to help others build a future for themselves. Illiteracy is still a massive global problem, and knowing how to read is a basic building block in staving off poverty. Start eliminating poverty, and people will be more likely to stick it out where they're at instead of going on last-ditch trips to someplace where they might be able to get a job etc.

My feelings, exactly! Thanks for speaking out about this. I am NOT anti-immigration or anti-hispanic; just anti-illegal immigration. There is a HUGE difference. I also hate it when the skinheads and racists come on here and spout their hateful rhetoric as if they represent the feelings and beliefs of most Americans - they do not! I wish it were possible to deport all of them, along with the illegal immigrants.

My father utilized for citizenship on the commencing up of international conflict 2 and traveled to Argentina with the intention to realize this on the yank embassy down there and dealing with no longer basically the quota equipment however the prospect that the Nazis occupying his residing house u . s . could desire to no longer supply him an emigration selection. Then and only then did he enter america to stay, and fulfill the added hurdle that he mandatory to tutor reductions (in present day money, approximately 5,000) to tutor that he replaced into no longer coming in to be a burden on society. He could no longer commence the naturalization technique because of the fact his u . s . replaced into occupied, and so he replaced into seen a antagonistic alien. yet he could desire to be, and replaced into, drafted into the U.S. military. He at last grew to grow to be a citizen. I discern that the main substantial undertaking Latinos have interior the U.S. is they sense they have some ordinary acceptable that gadgets them above others and enables them to bypass the regulations set down for ALL immigrants. in the event that they sell off that attitude, they're going to discover themselves extra particularly common. that's interior the activity of criminal Latinos to deter the illegals. as long as they arrive right here interior the way of volatile bugs infesting a load of lumber, they could desire to no longer anticipate lots sympathy. This concept will certainly impression how lots popularity Latinos regularly adventure in this u . s ..

Good point. I think a lot fails to get done in Ameircan politics because people are leary of who their allies or fellow advocates may be on a particular issue. That's sad and wasteful.
I love Hispanics as a group. They're great people. But I am anti-illegal, too. But I keep a weather eye peeled on who I echo and agree with on this. No John Birchers or Minutemen, if you know what I mean.

yes, it is possible to like and accept Latinos in America and be anti-illegal immigration. I am a Hispanic American but that does not mean I support illegal immigration. there is a right way to go about immigrating into another country and cutting ahead of the line is not one of them.
yes, racism is wrong but your question is not a question of racism, it is of acceptance and whether or not you are willing to accept this behavior and allow it to taint your views on the Latin American community as a whole.

Yes, but the latino special interest groups will call anyone against illegal immigration a racist. (Maldef, Lulac, La Raza, Mecha, etc.). Those groups get a lot of media attention but most legal latinos ignore them.

I have a problem with their nerve to come here and demand. I also have a problem with the legal mexicans here too who have the nerve to be racist against blacks and whites and saying that we are because we disagree with this invasion on our culture and society. I dont use racial slurs nor do I say I hate these people. I just have an utter disgust with their nerves and attitudes towards our country and mainly against the people in it.

We are not against immigrants, only ILLEGAL immigrants. They can call us all the names they want to, but the truth still prevails. We are not racist, but they will continue to call us such since that's all they know how to do, is spout epithets and slurs. Even Mexico is strict on immigrants and punish their illegal invaders from Guatemala. Why do they think the USA should be any more lenient? They want a double standard. It won't fly.

Latino Americans are no issue. Illegal immigrants are the issue. Limits to protect our schools and services, and having those limits obeyed, are the issue.
You won't persuade anyone, though. Those calling us racist for being anti-illegal have too much stake in believing it is the truth - because otherwise they would have to go back.

.. i think the whole concept of "illegal immigration" is blown way out of proportion ... its hate based, media pushed, and govt instigated ... theres a few repressive things going on that the issue is being used to bring about, namely, a detention system for "dissidents" that could include US citizens, and a push to implement a national ID system that they want to tie everyone into to keep closer tabs on everyone not just immigrants ... and in europe in WW2 times the same exact scenario was going on when nazi germany and several other countries wanted to increase control over their populations and start militarizing police ... they started promoting the idea that undesirables and illegal immigrants were the cause of everyones problem, the general population not realizing the system of human rights violations and repression that was put into place ... and if u dont believe that then do some research ... illegal immigrants do not threaten this country and are not the cause of ur high prices and ur paycheck becoming worth less and less ... its an issue to keep u focused on an issue and not revolt against ur govt and to put a system into place that will totally deny u the capability to do so ...
