It takes a lot of confidence be a good public speaker. The best way to build confidence is practice. Start small, you don't have to say everything you want to say in a very elegant manner, but as you get better at it, speaking to crowds or gatherings WILL become easier, I guarantee.

This is, in many ways, a normal reaction to public speaking. In fact, USA Today did a study years ago which found that death is only the second scariest experience for most people; public speaking ranks first!

The easiest way to overcome this is to choose two or three friendly-looking people in the audience and speak directly to them. Be sure to jot down a list of ideas you wish to cover and refer to your list throughout. Speak as if you were talking to a friend - be natural. If your voice changes, smile about it; it happens to most of us. As for the sweating, that will diminish as you become more used to such situations.

Tell yourself that you will enjoy what you're doing, and you probably will. Remember that courage is defined not as a lack of fear but going ahead in spite of the fear.

Be courageous!

If you want to overcome your discomfort, and become a good, if not terrific public speaker, check with your local college, and take a public speaking course.

First you need to know how to make a correct sentence and it sounds like you need a bit more practice with that.

Good luck!
